Unkillable Clone of Myself among Deserters
As per the title, somehow a clone of my player character has turned up in the encounter list for Deserters, meaning that every deserter party is now led by a duplicate of my character complete with their own inventory stash.

They don't do anything, are only even knocked out (even with player death enabled) and always escape from battle. They can't be defeated through auto-resolve either - I tried mashing through "attack without me" until my troops ran out, and my entire 60+man warband either died or got wounded, leaving me to hunt them down on my own.

At first I thought it was funny, with my Uruk-hai captain going mad and seeing a ghost of himself on the battlefield, but with enemy warbands now large enough that I have to face them I'm getting really sick of it. The console command for "kill hero" doesn't seem to do anything (unless I'm formatting it wrong). Is there any way around this? Is it possible to get into the encounter list for Deserters and delete this copy of myself? Any other way to remove Deserters entirely? I really don't want to have to write-off this character and switch to another one - we beat Rohan and have almost beaten Gondor!

Did you use cheats or anything of the sort?

The "Heal Yourself" option's been popping up from time to time, and I might have pressed it once to see what it did, but I've not been using it. I'm also pretty sure I'm not meant to be getting the option to turn into a bear either (being an Isengard Uruk) but I did use that once for a laugh.
I've left the mod options and tweaks menus alone, apart from turning player death on briefly to see if that would let me kill the doppelganger. The only console command I tried using was campaign.kill_hero [my name] but it didn't work and I haven't saved after the time I tried using it.

If you're seeing those menu options, you must've turned on the TLD cheat menu. Also, if you've updated your game from a very old version, that could cause problems like yours. (The game probably tries to add an unknown troop to the parties in question, but defaults to 0, which is the player troop, thus producing the player copies.)

Anyway, although I've never heard about such a problem, it sounds like your savegame is corrupted. If you can upload it here for me to inspect, that might be helpful to avoid the cause in the future. But there's not much that can be done about your file. Even if you used a savegame editor to remove all other player instances, the game would probably produce more.

That "update from an old version" part might well be the culprit - I've come back to this mod after not playing for a few years, and my other campaigns made after I restarted recently don't have the bug (despite one of them now being further along in days than the bugged one).

I've uploaded my saves here [drive.google.com] - assuming SG00 is the first save slot, then SG02.SAV should be the one in save slot 3 where I'm right next to a party of Deserters led by my character, with another one nearby also led by me.

Thanks for your help - I guess I'll have to continue that save with this weird Banquo's Ghost effect. It's annoying, but I guess I can keep seeing it as nightmare visions my guy's having, lol.
