Starter dock leaving and returning its easier to switch to using the electric precision drives, keys 1-6. Thelon is very much pushing the edges of the starter spawn size which itself is very close to the width of the starter dock. Catching the edges is common. Using the electrics lets be more precise, rotate the stern rather than the bow or shift sideways.

If inverted:

= Focus on operating the boat
= Turn off the autopilot
= Center steering, no a-d key for now
= Engage inversion motors by the circuit breaker at the pilot's right near the map.
= Optional change direction of inversion
= Center steering
= The roll stabilizers need motion to matter
= Tap the start button as the engine's electric starter will give some small rotation to the propellers
= Keep tapping on the starter motor as the high engine can grab air
= Optional hold down 1 for the electric drive forward from the precision system to give a little speed
= As you come up from the roll steer against the roll, if rolling to the right steer to the left, if rolling left steer to the right
= Once up turn off the inversion motors or they will keep slowly draining the battery

Warning: Once inversion motors have started they take a while to stop spinning. While spinning they can kill you if you go on the roof and hit them.

While Thelon has the range to get you to the arctic its not rated to make a round trip unassisted.

There are fuel carriers in my practical design collection:

The sealed tank with 1,000+ liters is the minimum. Refill once you've gone north a ways and abandon the raft.

Larger rafters will extend the range.

The default base fuel stores might not be enough for both. A trip or two to stockpile fuel at the heading off base is advised.

Ran tests in 100% winds. Able to hold position at no gears ~21% throttle. Would be a strategy to wait out the worst of the storm before resuming.

70-80% slow down slightly to avoid too much porpoising (jumping in and out of the water). The boat uses active stabilizers that work in water not the air.

Below 70% winds the cruising speed with both gears in should be fine. May vary based on how your course is angled to the wind.

In high winds the autopilot can be both a help and a curse.

If the boat is really bouncing around, slow down, turn in line with the wind ahead or astern and wait for conditions to improve before resuming transit.

If you take serious bow damage, like the deliberate high speed into a beach test, the engine throttle and shut off buttons can be damaged. Repair these right away so the throttle can be reduced and the engines shut off.

There is now a portable weld pack using the mounted welder in a handheld assembly.

It starts off in the engine room parcel storage area. It has a battery allowing you to remove the cable to get to distant places.

There are various electrical connectors around the Thelon to hook it up. A good idea is to use the rear winch and spool out lots of length, up to 100m. However that is also used by the anchor power. On the connectors directly the game seems to keep things quite close.

It was easier in many cases to use it deattached on battery power.

Warning: it doesn't float!
