Separatist Job

Making the Separatist
I'll be going over my thought process and the background stuff for the job for those of you who are interested.

Play style & Feel

I went with a more combat focused job. A lot of what things that inspired the Separatist Job was rebellions against some sort of stronger and bigger government. Star Wars, Braveheart, a bit of ATLA/LOK etc etc. Taking matters into their own hands, they are typically out numbered and out gunned and have to make it work and I wanted to try and base my talents around that.

Prerequisite Talents
As with all the other jobs in the game, these are suppose to help you lean into the theming of the Separatist and lean into it's talent trees. Being able to get the Flamer and better explosives sooner than a Security Officer were big ones for me to include. Originally you unlocked the flamer and got a small boost to your burn damage, but I felt that was too strong for the level you would acquire it. I also felt just unlocking the flamer wasn't enough, so I ended up making the heated diving knife to accompany it.

Extremist
Unsurprisingly this talent tree was suppose to involve the more extreme methods to get what they want. Originally, I had two separate talent trees for explosions and fire, but I put most of the fire and explosion talents together. I tried to not go very hard on the effects since both of those things are pretty strong as they are. Instead of going and increasing the damage of fire and explosion a bunch I gave the Separatist to do more it. Then the Heavy Flamer came into being as well as the ability to make more explosives than the everyone else. Originally there was only the heavy flamer, but if you focused on the fire stuff I decided it kind of felt bad to only be able to use it in dry environments so I make a Heavy Steam Cannon as well.

Rebel
This was the talent tree where I wanted to lean into the situation that groups like the Separatist are in other media. You don't have a lot of options and have to make things work, be adaptable. Scrap ammunition seemed to make perfect sense to me and was the first idea for the talent tree. Cheap ammo that could make and have ready whenever you were in a pinch, but as a downside, was not as powerful as the regular ammo. Then to incorporate the adaptability part I made the majority of the talents have several options to choose from. If it wasn't obvious while you go through the talents, they references to Star Wars, some more directly than others.

Underdog
This talent tree is themed similarly to the Rebel talent tree. Against the odds they are fighting against a much bigger and stronger threat than they themselves are. I decided to try and capture that in the talents by making it centered around you being able to overcome those odds in dire situations. Gaining buffs while you were low seemed very appropriate for this. I didn't want it to just be a low health talent tree since the Harlequin has that already, so I made some talents inspired off of the Down With the Ship talent from the Captain.

I've been working on this job for awhile. Testing out stuff I haven't done before and I had several iterations and a bunch of talents and trees scraped and redone. It was a nice learning experience though and now that it is out I am pretty happy with it. Not sure I want to make another Job mod with as many talents though. Took a lot longer than I would have liked to make the preview images, lol.
