Blowing up seemingly at random
I seem to randomly explode when in offroads. I first noticed this when I did an airdrop mission on the hill with a church west of Syrta. Drove up to the hill, popped smoke, airdrop dropped, loaded up cargo, went back to base. I returned a second time to loot corpses and when I started to drive away, I exploded. The explosion itself seemed to originate on top of my player model in the offroad rather than from an external source like a GMG or mine. The vehicle was left intact with no damage as well, also supporting this observation and suggesting this explosion was due to some sort of small munition.

This has happened 2 more times, one more time when I went to retrieve my corpse and vehicle from that hill approximately 300~ meters away and again at the outpost on the hill south of Negades.

Has anyone else had this happen and if so, under what conditions? I honestly have no idea what is causing these, but they seem unfair and out of place.

airdorp missions have mine's

Update: I managed to get my hands on a mine detector and it turns out there are in fact mines. I have narrowed it down specifically to spec op groups that lay the mines. They seem to lay mines randomly in a 300-400 meter radius around where they are operating. These spec op groups can be found wandering around the countryside seemingly randomly as well as garrisoning outposts.

Hopefully this helps someone else.

Yeah, I'm experiencing the same thing. This has happened to me at least a dozen times. I suspect that I am indeed hitting mines ... although I don't know how to tell this for sure after the fact. Certainly the explosion 'feels' like a mine. To paraphrase a comedy troop, "I blowed up good, real good." I'm not so sure about the SpecOps theory, though. The places that this has happened does seem to be mainly random. In the middle of a desert patch (North end of Madden). On a remote hillside. On a road in the middle of nowhere. Typically there have been no evident signs of an enemy. And the nearest outpost/base seems to be close to 1 km away. So the risk situation seems to be a proverbial 'crap-shoot' (aka 'the dice game'). I have no idea how to diminish this risk. As a related aside, I did try to identify a mine-detector in my arsenal. But I don't know what it is called. Besides, the Antistasi arsenal has no apparent way to search for a specific item. And nor is the arsenal sorted alphabetically (apparently that would be too logical :-D).
