Raptor Type-E
Currently I am into spending an hour trying to learn everything about this Raptor Type-E vehicle that got added, and finding the variables I want to manipulate in RIMMSQL. So far I haven't changed anything, but out of the box it has miserable fuel consumption on the world map. Like with a full 40K charge I miiight be able to reach the closest allied settlement. The smuggler from vanilla vehicles expanded has >100 times better fuel economy to give you some perspective.

Another complaint is that 5K cargo capacity is too much for a jet fighter when you look at the big rig from VVE having 2.2K for example.

Lastly, the description mentions it having over 5K kg of ordinance but I can't find any evidence of being able to use weapons on this thing.

I am going to try editing what I can directly for now to make this vehicle justifiable because as it stands building it destroyed my advanced components supply.

Building upon this with some further testing: it is 1303 fuel cost for the Raptor to travel ONE cell on the world map. I also now understand that the 5K Kg of ordinance is likely just a reference to its cargo space.

Unfortunately, even with editing the files in the steam workshop folder for the mod, I cannot get my balancing edits to be reflected in the game. I am just not knowledgeable enough as to the mysteries of how Rimworld does its "patch-loading" in order to have mods affect the run-time.

atm, its stats, mainly the fuel economy, is very horrible because I haven't tested it a lot. It was meant to be a two-way trip. Considering how long it charges and the amount, I definitely need to lessen it.

as for the 5kg cargo capacity, Im just going off the boss lines from Synthetik. Raptor type-E just loves boasting about his specs. I'd probably need to tone it down in a non-CE environment;

for ordinance... yeah Vehicle framework doesn't have bombing/strafing capabilities for planes yet; Its for the future, afaik its going to be vehicle upgrades > raider (AI) vehicles > more aerial capabilties

Glad to hear you have future plans for bombing runs once the vehicle framework supports it!

Btw I figured out how to edit the values of cargo and fuel consumption to my liking, by making a local copy of the mod in the mod folder instead of the workshop directory.

Loving your plane man. I gotta get back to playing Synthetik 2 as well!

is there a way to reduce the weight of specific items in cargo, for example missiles? if so, you could make them weigh a lot less and have a small cargo capacity, simulating that the only cargo it can carry are missiles, bombs and lead. or you could make the rockets weigh a lot, forcing a choice between enough ammo for one encounter or cargo. it's a fighter, it's supposed to be used for interceptions and precision strikes, quick in-and-outs. go in, destroy the threat and dip.

afaik no. That would probably need C# to be possible, which I cannot do.

And yeah, Its been a problem, mainly in Combat Extended due to how heavy ammo can be, and it ends up turning Tanks into the best Cargo haulers.
For, vanilla I made it so that the Tank has a "Magazine" because the loaded ammo isn't counted towards the vehicle's cargo cap.
