I'm having a strange issue with this mod. If I try to connect to a LAN game hosting a game with this mod. I will get a crash when connecting, for all classes except, when connecting with a Classy Outlander. (Vanilla classes seems to work fine)

It doesn't seem to matter what class the host is playing though. I've tried hosting as both Classy Embermage and Classy Outlander, and the result is the same.

Can anyone else reproduce this problem?

Yes as me and Mr.TinyToast are having the issue online. We as any class are not able to play together because it freezes and crashes.

Thank you Mr.Revan. Have you noticed if it crashes when the connecting player use a Classy Outlander?

I will try to find and fix this issue, but as of now I have no clue what causes the crash.

Let me reverse the question too, because I need to figure this out. As I'm thinking about starting the mod over from fresh to fix this issue.

Can anyone play this mod in multiplayer, LAN or Internet without it crashing the game?

Wolven, just wanted to pop in and say that I've had nothing but crashes whenever I try to play this in multiplayer--LAN and Internet both. We both have the mod installed, and whenever we are in the same zone, the game will crash.

Thank you, Folklorist. I'll go about rebuilding the mod.

The server doesn't even pop up for My friend when I host a server for her and me. I didn't crash for LAN or Internet it just didn't pop up for her when I tried hosting.

After hours of testing I've figured out what's causing the game to crash when trying to play in network. It seems the game can't handle pulling all the skills from four different directories into one player unit when it's connecting via the network.

There is one exception to this, and it's the Outlander. If i load the skills from the other classes in a particular order, I can make a clone of the Outlander come through the network without crashing the game. The class skills must be loaded in reversed alphabetical order in the .dat file: Wanderer, Railman, Berserker, Arbiter. For other classes I can only manage to load one additional class's skills before it crashes. I tried loading the other class skills in all possible combinations on a Berserker and it simply will not work. I've only done extensive testing with a cloned Berserker, but I think the game handles the Outlander differently in the game code. Like it's the first character they made, and it's the base for all others. IDK. This just speculation...

I can't fix this issue for this mod without doing it from the ground up, and even then it might not work. The only way I can see around this issue, is to clone all the skills and place them in the same directory, then assign them all to the player units. I don't know if this will work, and it's a pretty large undertaking. This will also make any characters played with this version of the mod incompatible with the new version.

Damn, that sounds pretty intense. Thanks for looking into it, Wolven. It's disheartening that the game won't let it happen, but at least the mod is still great when playing solo!

I've made a report about the issue in the Runic forums, but I don't have much hope of it being fixed as it doesn't affect the vanilla game and since TL2 is no longer being developed, except from the Mac port.

Not sure if I will go a head and try to re create the mod as it will take a good chunk of time to do and it might not work. I'd rather prioritize other mod projects I have, but perhaps I'll find inspiration to give it a go later. I like the concept of this mod and I want it to work properly.

Bad new folks. =/

I went ahead and built the mod from zero, by cloning all skills and placing them in the same directory, in the hopes that it would resolve the network crash. But it didn't work... The game or network code can't handle the amount of skills for some reason. I still get the same crash.

Why I've been able to make the Outlander come through, with the skills in a certain order I can't explain. With the new mod version the Outlander also crashes the game.

I'm a stubborn bugger and I hate unresolved problems, but I don't think I can make this work, no matter how hard I bang my head against it...

Over and out for now.

it's not the optimal solution but... you could try creating a second version of the mod with the outlander setup you managed to get to work and nothing else, that way people can at least play as a bunch of OP outlanders. (could even attempt replacing the charge bar/effects for said outlander with the other class', and see if you could clone that to make 4 "classes" that are simply all outlanders... they'd end up looking the same but would otherwise essentially play the same lol.)

First, thank you Wolven for both the awesome work to this mod and the explanations you gave us about what's going on for multiplayer.
If you need any help with testing and analysis, you can count on me.
I'm not using it yet because I haven't finished Torchlight II yet, but this classless system is what I always want in games, so I will use it very soon (don't know when yet) and do awesome builds.

I just hope you won't totally give up on LAN multiplayer.

Good luck!

If we could provide you some player metrics so we have an idea of which skills are actually popular, maybe you could make a multiplayer build with fewer skills in the tree?

Long shot on a reply here but does that mean Classy Classes works online as long as you use a Classy Outlander? Or am I misreading that?
