Missing files
Hello, I opened this discussion to try to resolve the problem.

By following the instructions on the mod page I noticed that there was no ringDefaults.xml in my files would you have any other solutions or indications

ringDefaults.xml.example should be created in the Storage\3102127379.sbm_BylenRingAsteroids directory in the world save directory when a world is loaded with the mod.

I also did not have a ringsDefaults.xml anywhere. I have run searches, scoured EVERTHING in my SE folders....nothing. I am positive it is user error, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Does asteroid amount at start matter?

I'm guessing you're looking through the Space Engineers folder in your default Steam directory? Game saves, configuration files (and other stuff, like blueprints) are actually saved in a different directory altogether. Try navigating to:
C:\Users\{you}\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves
There should be one or more folders there that probably have a string of numbers for names; inside one of them should be sub-folders for all of your saved worlds. Open the one for your world, then Storage\3102127379.sbm_BylenRingAsteroids.

You should see several ****.xml.example files, as well as a ringDefaults.xml.example. Edit the file name for ringDefaults.xml.example and delete the .example extension; Windows will complain about corrupting files, just ignore it. Once you've done that, open ringDefaults.xml in Notepad and make whatever changes you want to the global parameters. Follow the same process for the xml files of whatever planets you want to add rings to.

Hope that helps!

That is where I am looking. I know my way around pretty well, but it just is not there. I have resubscribed and started several new worlds and while the world is there, no ringDefaults.xml and I only have the backup folder, not the storage folder in my save for some reason.

No Storage folder suggests that either the mod has not been added to the world, the world has no planets, or the mod is erroring out. If you open the SpaceEngineers_*.log file from the session in a text editor, and search for SERingAsteroids or BylenRingAsteroids, do you find any errors? Are there any log files in %APPDATA%\SpaceEngineers\Storage\3102127379.sbm_BylenRingAsteroids?

Not finding SERingAsteroids or BylenRingAsteroids in the log. Also no errors. And the mod is in the game with a planet. It just doesn't exist. I wonder if I have a plugin that is interfering with it? I will continue to investigate this. If I find a solution, Ill put it here in case others have the same as Sh4dock and myself.

Also, %APPDATA%\SpaceEngineers\Storage\3102127379.sbm_BylenRingAsteroids does not exist. Weird.

Ok I remade everything and this time, there is the storage and the rings file. I don't know why.
No other explanation except I made it with Bylen instead of another planet like Limitar. Off to play with this mod!!
