Save Issue Solution
~~Did your save game disappear after that crash? Did you lose that three hours of progress?

Well fear no more! Because I found a solution.

First, unsubscribe from this scenario on Steam Workshop.

Secondly download the scenario from Armaholic using this link: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=26759

Extract the file into the missions folder of the Arma 3 folder.

Only save from the pause menu after pressing escape. DO NOT save in the barracks if prompted.

So I'm not the only one whose saves disappear after a crash.

The Armaholic version is outdated tho. I got it working by locating the Steam mission PBO, unPBO the file and copying all the sqf files and maps into a new map named 'HunterSix.altis'. Then you must place that map in your self-made missions map and open the mission (called HunterSix) in the 3DEN editor. You can screw around a bit with the loadouts and objects before exporting the mission to singleplayer. After you did that the mission will appear in the scenarios.

Work around:

Hi this is how I got my campaign back.

After a forced fresh restart I compared the files in the following folder with a backup I made of the last campaign state in

C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Arma 3\Saved\steam\hunter%20six%20-%20special%20operations%20unit.altis

I found that the file:

continue.Arma3Save

Was 'missing' from the backed up folder but present each time I first start, which means the game/mod is not consistent keeping up this file or that it was deleted (!) by the game/mod itself.
Perhaps too many manual saves were created? I seem to have 6 named in this format:

save4.Arma3Save

So simple! Force your way back in by copy/pasting and renaming the last save in your current campaign.
Always manually backup the save folder after finishing a session just in case it happens again and make sure you save manually just before exiting.
