This was my thought process note the point I edited this line in and the line I added after rereading what your original post is pointing out.. LOL. Dyslexic me. the realising line is at the end BTW.

If you built extra blocks on the shed before it locked as a completed task then you couldnt remove or build off those blocks then yes, it sounds reasonable to believe you have built an indestructible appendage to the shed.
However, it's also undeletable and unbuildable on soooo....
Unless you could flawlessly build your dream indestructible farm before adding the final & locking piece to Bills shed then consider the suggestion by other people as other people with useless, unmovable, unupgradable, unconnectable appendages to their NPCs sheds.
Tier 3 metal maybe the practical option.?
P.s. there's never ever a flawlessly designed scrap build which doesn't require an
addition / modification at some point.
There is a command you could use to test but I'd rather not unless you've completed the game as there's a potential to break your world & quests etc.
And, as I mentioned earlier there isn't much point because your building / farm is what it is as soon as last piece is placed in Bills shed..
ReRead additional:--
Yes a fence of scrap wood wall thing connected before completion of the shed would be a thing.
:)
I'll have to construct a new high tier metal gate completely from scratch.
Be warned.
(Excuse my sarcasm, I'm British). Lol.
I didn't think you'd be building a gate too..
That makes a fence with a gate.
That's two separated bodies.
One body (Fence) becoming part of the indestructible shed and the other (Gate) attached to and separated from the indestructibility cloak of the shed by a joint / piston.
I'd use a seat to teleport into the inner fence area by making the need for a separated moving body not needed.
Tier 3 metal into the ground then fence off that.?
You could of added medium green pipes to the indestructible part of the fence to make a hinge to hang a tier 3 gate off of.
But even with that you'd need a weak spot like an open / close switch..
You probably already know this but I wouldn't use this willie nillie all over the place because I'm definitely that guy who said "This can break worlds" (Now twice).!!.
Do the thing then fix the thing without forgetting you did the thing outlined below.
Stand in Bills shed and Open chat, then type
/decrypt
Preferably while Bill isn't around, Decrypting an NPC may cause one to fall to pieces.
I don't know..
When you've finished doing the fixing thing, Very important to type in chat window..

I have another idea that I'm going to try. What if I made a full indestructible fence (more appropriately sized) and then made some sort of contraption on the inside that gets my car inside? My current idea is to make a platform that slides out under the fence and pops up like a ramp. Then I just use the ramp to jump the fence. You could have a permanent ramp on the inside. I deal with vulnerable switches my using a colour sensor far enough inside that mobs can't reach it.
Thanks, electrodoc68. I might try that tip one day.
Interesting concepts are underground building.
Lift glitching underground on a seat and platform area to build on while underground can lead to interesting indestructible concepts.
I always have a water container & pump under farm to a water source tile and physically connected to my upper structure with tier 3 metal for any above ground connection, giving indestructability and watering control from my farm.
No reason an underground build couldn't be connected this way to connect to all sensors, switches, pistons etc in order to lift a vehicle up out of harms way.
Piston shafts have no collisions therefore indestructible & only require protection of the 1x1 main body.
Sensor encased in tier 3 ought to be safe recessed in by 1 block, same goes for pistons.
Any underground build can be made of scrap wood as it's indestructibility comes from its
inaccessible nature not its durability.
Watch for Lag if you've got large areas touching other areas i.e. ground & platforms.
Good tip is using a minimal amount of the screw heads to give a slight separation.
Have fun.
Master battery.
But, you might say, you get only a single one.
Nope. Once you build the antenna and put in the battery, the socket will spawn a new battery. Mobs cant destroy them, but you can freely move them around, even use them for cars.
You can't build close to the trees once they are grown, so put in some metal 3 at the edges before the trees grow. If you try to add it later, you'll have to leave a gap that wolves can probably get through. Then you can add a gate or whatever to your metal 3 fence.
Had to correct my last post, The battery have to be in the socket but it still happens in 1.1.0.1.
