As long as i have will and time, when i want to, i add ontop the mod and expand, i'll probably stop when i dont care anymore or when there's nothing to add.

3. Im currently trying to get with key a system working where if (X) tech is researched, then a kind of weapon is no longer built, therefore if (Flintlock) is researched, bows are no longer produced for example, so next update should cover that.
Other than that seek of attention, it's not a particurally bad idea, i'll sign it in the list of things to do, but it won't come in the next update, know that.
If, like at the end of the bio you suggested tanks and planes, why not let them be able to research and deploy the two types of nukes in the game, granted that they already have planes and maybe energy technologies. If you can already link a small explosion to a projectile for cannons and such, could you link the two types of nuclear explosions to projectiles also?
If launching nukes from units like planes would be too complex, making a simple circular shaped building that looks/acts as a missile silo it might work with your style.
As for how they would function, maybe rather than the stationary building types that the cannons are, why not make it a rare armor type that military units can equip if a nation can produce it, give it has all the buildings.
As for energy tech, you could simply make a varied level of power plant (steam plants->fossil fuel plants->nuclear plants) which would only function as a gateway technology (basically a culture having an industrial rev.) in order for cultues to research tanks, planes, nuclear bombs.
As a last thing, I send a warning. I fear the quality of the mod could be ruined if planes and tanks were oversized on the map like ModernBox. the largest ships in the game aren't even as big as some of the buildings on the map, i'm sure it would be much more pleasing on the eyes to no have larger than cloud planes and tanks rolling though towns.
Last thing.. ships.. need I say more? if you're goin into WW1 or WW2 era I think new textures and levels of ships would be great, one that has smoke stacks dreadnought like, then one that's WW2 battleship type. hmm. Good Luck! this would be my wet dream. I'm not a modder but lmk if there is a genuine way that I could help.
I like the Energy tech suggestion, it's a great idea for updates post-1870s.
Ships are something that at one point i MUST add, but i need to figure out first how, even Moderbox struggles with them.
As for planes, i was actually considering to scrap them after seeing Modernbox's spin on them, it feels like that at the moment, they can't work on Worldbox, so i should scrap the idea until better "Templates" (for example, if air ships are ever added) are added.
