Third Legion recruiting troops
So after completing the Third Legion quest, I can go back to the outpost and by the fort there is the Third Marshall, who you can hire troops from.
However, I get the menu where I can choose the type of troop, and how many I want, and then my character says "Let me reconsider".
Is this a bug or have I somehow done a quest wrong?

Same thing here :(

I came here to write about the same exact issue. At least it's not just me. Did the whole quest line as well (they have their restored city and faction), and I ended the quest by speaking to the guy who is now the leader of that faction.
I'm a vassal (though not at war with them). Maybe you need your own faction? Would not make a lot of sense.... I think it's a bug :(

Hopefully the creator is aware of this, and our dreams of fielding a Roman army are close.

I have a few theories. Its either your party size, your money (their troops are quite expensive), or the marshal acts as one of those people that give you mercenaries (i.e. tolranian mercenary lancer) and it has a cool down before you can get more units

I think this might be intentional. Technically the third legion and the venetor are different factions with different (though virtually identical) troop trees, and it would be a bit strange to run around with "Third" soldiers (that the marshall allows you to recruit) after the legion becomes the venetor empire.

Intentional? Then why have the recruiter there at all? You dont even have the option to recruit them unless you conquer venetor. If you go to him before that, he will just tell you you better get back to your barracks. If we weren't meant to get third legion troops then I dont think we would have this elaborate recruitment option.

Yeah, no way it's intentional, wouldn't make any sense. One way or the other it must be an oversight, if not a bug.
Hope this thread will reach the dev team. Meanwhile, if I get a bit of free time this w-e, I'll code dive into the behavior of the marshall and maybe find a temporary fix.

Well I did have a look and I compared the codes regarding the Marshal legion recruitment vs Makmix freelancer recruitment, and it seems clear to me that former are vastly incomplete...

for anyone else having this issue i managed to hire them by spamming left click and figured out if you double click on the unit you want to hire you will be able to select the amount you want to hire. Hope this helps
