How to hire "Player's Mercenaries"

As the topic. I can only hire them as another party like patrol. Can I hire them in my party? Also how can I change their armours?

You recruit them at the mercenery guild. I have no idea what you are talking about when you say that you can only enlist them as a patrol.

other than the base faction troops for all of the generic factions

Some special troops that you can decide yourself. Go the top floor of Mercenary Guild.
