Transmutation stone?

How do I use this thing? I try to put a rare socketable, a unique, and it in the transmuter's interface, but I don't have the option to click it.

Ah - I figured it out. A "rare socketable" is a rare gem of any kind - I'd thought it was a socketable piece of armor, since the other requirement is a unique.
