When you use this mod in a server, the host has to install lua for barotrauma and start the server with the lua executable. The players don't have to have the mod installed.
When you want to use the mod in singleplayer you have to install lua for barotrauma and then install the client-side lua by using a command. How exactly you do this is described in the Workshop page of lua for barotrauma . Then you can just start your singleplayer campaign and the mod should work.
To see if the mod is running you can open your console using F3 and there should be some lines from this mod stating that the config is ready and bots are trying to be revived.
