Roguelike Arena
This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important

Loading Issue
There is an issue where the game confuses which campaign module it loads, creating subsequent save files with incorrect dependencies. Attempting to load these saves leads to errors like "Server shutting down". This issue is related to the game engine itself, not the mod, so our best chance is to report it to Larian Studios and hope for a fix. That said, it is possible to prevent the issue and fix corrupted save files.

Preventing the Issue
To prevent your save files from becoming corrupted, follow this method each time you load a save from the main menu:
  • Make sure Roguelike Arena is selected in the adventure dropdown when loading an existing save.
  • Be especially mindful of the Continue button, as using it bypasses the menu where you select the campaign. Always make sure you check the dropdown before loading your save.
  • Important: If Roguelike Arena is already selected by the game (not manually by you), subsequent saves will still become corrupted. This happens because the game internally references the wrong module, even though the dropdown shows Roguelike Arena.
  • To avoid this issue, if Roguelike Arena is pre-selected by the game, select another campaign first, then switch back to Roguelike Arena. This ensures that the campaign is loaded correctly, preventing the creation of corrupted save files.
  • You must follow this method whenever loading the campaign via the main menu. Reloading during an active session (without returning to the main menu) will not cause issues.

Fixing Corrupted Save Files
Selecting the correct campaign will not fix corrupted save files. The problem lies in the mod dependencies inside the save files, which become incorrect when the game thinks it loads the wrong campaign. To fix these files, the dependencies must be corrected, which requires some technical knowledge. If you have a corrupted save, you can send me the .lsv file, and I will repair it for you.

Alternatively, you can attempt to do it yourself. I might make a comprehensive guide in the future, but until then here's a summary of the steps you need to take:
  • Extract the corrupted save file via LSLib[github.com]
  • Using LSLib, convert the extracted files to a format you're familiar with
  • Open the converted character creation leveldata file with an editor and copy the section that lists mod dependencies
  • Open all the other converted files and overwrite mod dependencies with what you copied
  • Convert all files back to their original format
  • Recreate the save file from the files you just converted

Special Thanks
A big thanks to Pip for helping me identify the cause of this issue!

If the file corrupts, can i recover? or change something in the savefile code?

I lost 7 saves today, and i cant do nothing to change the problem because my savefile was corrupting one second after being saved.

This started happen after installing other mods...

Maybe if you unpack the save file with lslib, correct the references, and then repack the file. This would require some technical knowledge and I'm not even sure it's possible, but 7 save files is a lot and losing them is very annoying, so it's worth a try in my opinion. I can check it in a few days and give a more confident answer if you're still interested by then.

I've just checked and I might be able to recover it if you're still interested.

I'm interested if you have a potential fix! I just had a save file start giving me this issue and would love to have it fixed if possible

Of course! If you send me the .lsv file I'll try to fix it.

Yeah this issue is very frustrating, but unfortunately I haven't received any response from them about it at all. :/

Maybe if more of us report it or contact them on a different platform they'll prioritize it, I'm not sure tbh.

I've contacted the support team about this issue again and received a response this time, but unfortunately it's very vague. Apparently an update is being planned for the game (even though it last received one in 2021), but that's all they could tell me. Whether the dev team knows about the issue, if or when the supposed update will release, and whether or not it would fix this problem, is still unknown, and asking for further clarification yielded no results. If nothing changes in a few months, I'll ask again, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I post it in the main page, in case someone needs to recover their broken save file, I repost.

Here is an easy solution I figured out, need download the DoS-2-Savegame-Editor https://github.com/NovFR/DoS-2-Savegame-Editor

Open the broken file in the editor, click Advanced >> show metadatas' tree, pop tree window, then press F3 or right click to search value, find DivinityOrigins_1301db3d-1f54-4e98-9be5-5094030916e4 and replace it to RoguelikeArena_a5f5bd15-a925-4d90-9604-d7df6921fc79, very easy, hope this is helpful.
