I would recommend a vanilla game first as your first game but prices are dynamic even in vanilla based on how many wares they have and if the price changes its bc the facility completed a production cycle or a trader bought/sold wares. You don't "trade" in Terran/Pioneer space to make money, they have a unique economy and you make money in their space by mining or establishing your own stations. If you want to be a trader then you should trade in commonwealth space with the commonwealth economy as their economy is much more complex.
Its already updated for timelines. it doesnt require timelines because there were no major Economy changes in that DLC, every other DLC added new economies which needed to be covered
