Mod causes severe performance drop near wrecks
Disabling this mod solves the issue as even loading a save near wrecks takes an inordinate amount of time. In-game everything freezes for about a minute before any input is registered, even pausing the game.

I didn't see it myself yet, but multiple people have reported it after latest update so I have an Idea what might cause this. I will fix this later today.

new version is up addressing the performance issue / freeze. Please test.

Just saw the update, loading it up now.

Loaded a save from when I was in the middle of a sunken fleet and it still had performance issues. Loaded the current save out at sea and did not notice any noticeable lag from a 3 wreck of a sunken corvette, destroyer and possibly U-87 (poor bastard). Have yet to find a bigger group.
Edit: After sinking 4 ships in close proximity to each other I did not notice the performance issues from before. Will update if the issues return.

Issue is still here sadly. Sank the carrier in Scapa Flow and it was lagging heavily.

By chance does this mod have a cutoff for the amount of water allowed to flood into each section of the ship? Looking at the other issue with ships sticking nose or rear up when being hit from the far ends makes me think that the volume limit for water is set to infinite.

If you disable the mod too? Maybe some other mod causing it? Maybe save is broken?

Probmels with performance when a few wrecks were around were reported after previous update, in which I changed to a different force sinking method, so I assumed the new method could cause this. In the newest version I have reverted to the old force sinking mechanism whith which nobody complained about performance problems.

Yesterday in my tests I have sank 20 ships by console commands in shallow water in an area of 5km radius simultaniously, didn't see any performance problems with all the wrecks around.

In the vanilla game there is a limit of maximum ballast for each compartement.
In the previous version of the mod force sinking was adding ballast over the limit. I assumed that might cause performance issues.
In the current version it is not doing it anymore, instead sets each compartement to maximum damaged which allows it to flood normally up to the limit.

I ran into this problem as well, this time just a single ship. Also, on map it shows the symbol of the wreckage together with the symbol of a "live" ship that is sinking at the bottom. Had to disable it, the performance was bad.

Try and maybe sink some ships the normal way? :D

I see... I think I should start a new save perhaps? Because I've been playing with the previous mod.

I don't play with many mods that alter the ships. I'll try it again with a new save. Though if you have time and if you're willing to take my suggestion. Can you try sinking the battleship and carrier at Scapa Flow to see if you have any performance issue?

I don't know if battleships/carriers have different sinking values. Though I have no idea how modding/coding works in general so I am poor at explaining this.

Edit: Can confirm that it is still laggy. I'm unsure what causes it as when I sink ships. It doesn't happen all the time. I tend to reload saves a lot because I hate wasting torpedoes and when I loaded back a save, the game started lagging really bad. Note that several other ships are either sunk or still sinking.
After removing the mod. Performance works good as new.

Just sank The Royal Oak, a carrier, and destroyer at Scappa Flow and didn't notice any performance issues. Try unsubscribing and resubscribing to the mod and starting a fresh mission from the docks.

After disabling and enabling the mod in the same save. Performance is the same, I mean good. No problems so far!

I would assume you need to start a new campaign for any changes to this mod to work, correct? Because still getting a slower framerates right after the ship starts to sink.

Darn, I should try this on my saves, never thought of doing this, thanks!
