Regarding mod updates and ensuring you don't lose your namelist
hey yall! a quick note about mod updates:

i have reason to believe that when a mod is updated in the workshop, the mod's files are overwritten. this would mean that any saved names would disappear with the update.

Steam doesn't give developers control over something like that, but i do have two suggestions that you can do:

Option 1

the simplest solution would be to keep your own copy of the names somewhere outside of the mod entirely. should the mod get updated, you could then just paste in the names again.

Option 2

this option is slightly more complex, but would be my recommendation.

Timberborn loads mods through two places:
  • The workshop folder
  • The "documents" mods folder

you can find more details about this "documents" mod folder here[timberborn.wiki.gg], though it should be in the location:

Users\[user]\Documents\Timberborn\Mods

what you'll want to do is copy the entire mod (including its folder) from the workshop folder, into the "documents" mods folder. this is effectively making a local copy of your mod, which then is disconnected from the Steam Workshop updates.

after copying the mod over:
  • start the game
  • uncheck the 'cloud' copy of the mod
  • check the 'folder' copy of the mod

and that should do it! just remember that from here on you'll want to update the names within the local copy of the mod, not the workshop copy.
