Aegean (Greeks & Trojans)
Aegean gods will mainly be based on iliad, i aim to add Athena in the future.

in-game gods
Gods sided with Greeks: Poseidon
Gods sided with Trojans: Apollo, Aphrodite, Ares.
semi-neutral: Zeus
[as you can see the imbalance, CA's choice of gods is poor]

ideally, Greece (Achaea) discoverable gods would be: Poseidon, Zeus (/Hera), Athena.
since i haven't added Athena yet, her discoverable location in Achaea is temporary filled by Apollo, who is heavily honoured by Greeks & based in Delphi.
so, currently Achaea discoverable gods are: Poseidon, Zeus, Apollo

Troad (Assuwa) discoverable gods are: Apollo, Aphrodite, Ares. (basically the gods sided with Trojans)

Thrace discoverable gods are: Ares (his hometown), Aphrodite (associated with Thracian nymphs), Poseidon (has some offspring there).

factions corrected to historical/ mythological patron gods:
Cibyra - Aphrodite
Korinth - Aphrodite
Pylos - Poseidon
Thebes - Poseidon
Halicarnassus - Poseidon
Achilles - Zeus
Sarpedon - Zeus
Crete - Zeus
Odyseus - (Zeus temporary fills Athena's place)
Athens - (Zeus temporary fills Athena's place)

i probably have adjusted a bit more than that, haven't created a change list.


~~CULT CENTRE~~

Crete being Poseidon's cult centre makes no sense.
Poseidon's cult centre should be Thebes/ Pylos.

Crete is Zeus' birthplace. to spread cult centres across the map, it could be his in-game cult centre. otherwise Olympia.

Mycenae would be a perfect fit for Hera, who is one of the major supporter of Greeks, along with Poseidon & Athena.

currently i haven't modified any Greek cult centres.

Mycenae is not perfect fit for, but it was the centre for Hera I think, by book by Kambouris. Thebes for Ares acc. to book by Kambouris, or I think the citadel of Cadmia/house of Cadmus were patrons of it. Dion for Zeus. Poseidon at Pylos, though acc to wiki also Thebes. Athena Athens. Idk how to interpert that around Thebes tbh, maybe the plebs worshipped Poseidon an royal family Ares?

Lukka Lands, well probably city dependent, Xhantos worshipped Leto, mom to Apollo I think. Telebehi/Kuwalapašša Kuwalapaš being an god. I can't remember where but if memory serves he was a local storm god, though not sure on that.

if Mycenae was Hera's centre, why is it not perfect fit for her?
(probably won't add her anyway, not a fan of adding many new gods as i'd rather fixing current lineup and having only the most important & iconic gods.
Hera is important in iliad, but linking her mythological roles to enough game boosts is difficult)

i thought Ares was only associated to Thebes' founding myth as Cadmus killed Ares' dragon?

for Poseidon's Pylos-or-Thebes thing, i think just picking one is fine.
back in Egypt, Horus' Tjaru & Nekhen was ignored;
Anubis' Hardai & Zawty was ignored.
Set's Piramesses was ignored.
Pylos might fit Poseidon better as its at the sea, but then i gotta change it from village to city...

both Xhantos & Telebehi are under Sarpedon (son of Zeus), right?
in that case, i always have ruler's patron comes first, as domain can change from time to time.
Zeus might be a suitable replacement for Kuwalapaš as Zeus himself is lightning god.

Greek myth is not my strong suit tbh, you seem to have researched the Hellenic religious scene better than me. :)

a village in-game, might be a bit anachronistic to upgrade to city,
what shall i do in my future startpos mod 🤔
