Mostly a discussion cause big comment.

It's super cool though could definitely use some more work. Just from trying them out over the last 30 minutes or so:
- Peace Walker npcs for example just throw out MGS2 voice lines, there's various other lack of voice line stuff
- Peace Walker npcs were T-posing for me
- Gekko are rough in general: they don't moo, and don't have their pre-alert phase, and their legs aren't responsive to damage at all nor are they fleshy (not sure if making them fleshy is possible), and I think their gun is shooting really fast? That's off memory tho.
- Fall damage doesn't work (they'll 'die' but continue to fire and not have their HP changed)
- Helicopter is soundless, doesn't move around very much, and overall isn't really as authentic as everything else. The missile particles are also big red X's for me instead of actual particles but Idk if that's a you problem or a me problem
- Flame trooper is wielding an AK for some reason
- Tengu commandos aren't anywhere near as mobile as they should be, not sure if you can work in stuff like their wall grips. If you can, it'd go a long way toward adding FROGs if that's ever intended
These are less problems I've been having and more additions I think would be nice:
- Back up should be more brutal, or maybe the numbers increase with the difficulty counter
- Dazing (shooting enemies' alert symbols for a short stun) would be neat to see
- More varied combat would be nice, stuff like the enemies rolling to sides, crouching while firing sometimes, etc. would be cool
- Wounding would be nice to have too
Generally it's super cool, but I hope it's the start to an amazing mod and not just a solid one!

Thank you for putting in the time to write intricate feedback!
For now I added crouching and dodging out of the way of grenades.
I also made it so if you headshot a guard close to a wall he will have a different anim play.
Going to work on improving Tengu Commandos.
Much appreciated!

Np I love the mod, really hoping at some point the gekko are improved.

This addon is great, but the npcs are slow. When they're in alert mode and they're chasing their target, they just walk slowly towards their destination. It's very easy to fight them, even when their difficulty settings are set to max. They stand on the same spot and shoot, until they lost their target out of sight.

While I imagine Dopey here could definitely alleviate some of that, and plans to add their pre-alert shoot-then-hide-to-radio phase, MGS npcs are pretty static save for like running around to reload or occasionally just stepping from side to side to aim dodge. MGS is a game where you have autolock for like 80% of the games and the other 20% it's still an optional feature. Even on higher MGS difficulties it can take the enemies like 30 seconds to kill you.

Exactly, thank you. The NextBots aren't supposed to be F.E.A.R. replicas or Trepang2 mercs gunning you down in a matter of seconds and doing combat rolls.

They even have their really aggressive melee like they do in-game. I said in the OP that I do think they could use a little dynamics such as their combat rolls (since they do have them, at least in mgs2) but overall yeah their main threat is mostly numbers and organized units (shotgunners behind shield users for example). I hope alongside everything else I said you'll be fleshing out the alert system. It's another one of those good-mod-turned-great things that'd be super interesting to see flesh out.
Bustly 18 Aug, 2024 @ 5:06am
Oh another thing to note is that in MGS you have mechanics such as bleeds, peeks, being knocked off your feet, etc., things that aren't really easily accomplished while remaining dynamic/modular on a modding platform. I think there's an incapacitation mod linked but that may not be what I said or it may be. I dunno.

Point is, while they're still rough around the edges they're pretty up there in terms of game-like accuracy.

What about the Mi-24A's Rockets ? Just firing missing texture
ori 16 Dec, 2024 @ 8:59pm
For some reason they're all just purple for some reason they're not missing texture but they have this unnatural shade of purple on them and I don't know what's causing it they're just purple for some unknown reason I could probably share an unlisted screenshot if necessary
