As a baseline the Republic is a shield focused strategic tanking faction, it is the most basic of the two factions in the way that it has the most capable singular units, While its units can stand on their own, they should always be complimented in a varied fleet composition to achieve maximum effectiveness.

The key difference between the Republic and CIS is that while Republic ships cost more and often take longer to build, they are build with longevity in mind and overall have a better time surviving heavy combat than their primary opponent the CIS

The republic is focused on being capable of opposing everything that is thrown at it, using fewer numbers by fielding specialized and general role ships in a varied fleet composition role.

CONFEDERACY OF INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS
The CIS are primarily an overwhelming firepower and player harrassment faction, Their strength lies in mass fighter/bomber compliments, Heavy long range artillery, and cheaper units. They are designed to be an equal in counterability power to the Republic. The CIS has access to tier 3 weapons at the cost of not being capable of utilizing tier 3 shielding. Both Factions are designed to pressure eachother into the next tech level in order to gain access to Counter ships, The CIS primary function is to deliver large payloads of damage to hull with its weaker but cheaper ships, It has a unit to counter every other unit in the game, but these units cannot be used on their own and must be complimented by other ships in support.
