UBOAT
World War Radio
Recently, the radio keeps turning off for no reason
I love the mod and have been using it since August or September last year.

But recently, I've got a real problem with it.

The problem seemed to start once I entered the Mediterranean.

It's frequently being turned of when the boat goes to periscope depth, which didn't happen before. That happens in the Atlantic now too. I tested it with an old save.
Sometimes it's being turned off when an officer enters or leaves the radio station.
Sometimes it's being turned off as soon as I start time compression.
Sometimes it's being turned off for no apparent reason.

But sometimes it keeps being turned on for quite some time, even when time compression is active and hands change at the radio station.

There's no apparent logic to it, I'm afraid.

It's not because of losing the range or because of bad weather, which happened before and is logical. But now it's just strange and it's not only when I'm at sea.

The strangest behavior I observed was when I was in port (La Spezia) and only the captain was on the ship. Everyone else was on vacation and it was perfectly good weather.

I turned the radio on and send the captain back to his task, which was bridge watch.
As soon as he reached the bridge or very shortly after, the radio went off.
I repeated this several times and it was always the same.
Then I send him to bed, after turning the radio on, and the same thing happened.
I tested this several times as well and it always happened.
Only when I kept him on the radio did it stay on.

I tested this with Radio Berlin and Radio England, because they have the longest range, so it couldn't have been a loss of contact.

I don't think that it's a conflict with another mod, because I've been using the same setup since last year. But you can check it out here:

I've only added the last five* mods on that list recently, after the problem started occuring.
*Not the sleeping officer fix. The other five.

PS: A nice addition to the mod would be a 'radio' station that always stays on, if that's possible. U-Boats had record players on board and a various collection of records. That station would basically serve as the record player. It could be an empty folder in which the player can put music of his own choice.

Let me explain what is happening:
As you know I have added the feature to the game, that you can actually loose the connection to a radio station, when you are leaving its radius. This brought one problem: As soon as there is no person on the radio station of you uboat, you will loose connection. I fixed that problem, by adding a timer, which gave the game time, to send an other sailor to the radio.

"Sometimes it's being turned off when an officer enters or leaves the radio station."
So when your officer leaves the radio station it is starting the timer, the sailor to replace him was too slow

"Sometimes it's being turned off as soon as I start time compression."
Sometime when using time compression it makes that problem even worse.

"Sometimes it's being turned off for no apparent reason."
This could be intended. As you know, the mod changes the news and the music from time to time. But this doesnt work aslong as you are connected to the radio. So my mod throws you off the radio to update the music list.

With the Type II Uboat that problem is pretty mutch not available since the ways from the bed to the radio station is pretty short.

I have uploaded now a new verison of the mod, that gives the game a little more time to get an sailor to the radio before disconnecting. Try that.
Also you could try using a mod which increases your crew limit. I guess more people on board = sailor faster at radio.
Ingame there is a menu, where you can set the priority, how importent different thing should be done. There you can also set the importance of tasks for sailors. Set the radio there to the highest priority.

If all that doesnt help, you can easily disable the Radio Station Range Feature of my mod, by navigating into this folder:
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\494840\3342143865\source
and delete all the .cs files.
Remember that you have to redo it every time I update my mod.

I've got 26 sailors plus 8 officers on board and the radio is manned pretty much all the time.
It just doesn't make sense to me that the radio is automatically turned off shortly after someone was on it, like the situation with the captain alone on the boat.

I'll try the tip with deleting the mentioned files.
Let's see, if that works.

But it's somehow strange that this problem only started occurring once I got to the Mediterranean, unless you updated the mod at that specific time. ,-(Ô_o)

It works a lot better now, after your last updates.
Sometimes, it's being turned off when the boat goes to periscope depth and time compression is active, while in map view. But overall it is mostly like it was before.

Thank you.
