Or do you means you retreated from Malastare and you ended up there?
Did you sell all structures on a planet and autoresolve that battle before this happened ?
Then the next battle (e.g. your troops being intercepted in space over a planet they pass by, by an enemy ship, or possibly even attacked by an enemy stealth unit over malastare) will be autoresoved as well. This 2nd autoresolve will be made "in the background" and not be detectable by you.
This is a known issue with the base game. The 2nd autoresolve would then possibly trigger the retreat mechanism, which by design would be causing said troops to directly go to the closest planet where you control space. This is *likely* the cause for what you experienced.
Make it a habit not to sell *all* buildings and then autoresolve that battle to avoid said issue in the future :)
Nope, it was purely a movement of troops from Chardaan to Malatare (they are neighboring planets), there was no battle and next thing i noticed, my troops are in Uyter (which isnt even near to these 2 planets).
