Easter Egg Guide! (WRITTEN VERSION)
I will only be including easter egg steps in this guide, and no extra parts that make no progression towards completing the easter egg.

Step 1
You will need to drain the poison water to advance with the easter egg. There are 5 valves across the map, and only 4 of these will be needed per-game. You need to turn each of the valves in the correct order. If you turn one incorrectly, the sequence will reset and you'll need to go back to the first valve. The first valve you turn will always become the first valve of the sequence (so the first valve you turn will always be correct). After that, you will need to listen to King Boo as he will tell you the location name of the next valve right after the poison has partially drained. Some people struggle to understand him, but as long as you know the locations of the 5 valves, you should be able to narrow down which one he said. If you can't, you will just have to guess and restart the sequence. Here are the 5 locations of the valves:
  • In the Courtyard, inside of the blood pool (King Boo will say Courtyard)
  • In the Mansion Hall on the upper floor, on the same side as the zombie window location (King Boo will say Hall)
  • In the Riverside Garden, to the right of the stairs that lead up to the Mansion Hall (King Boo will say Garden)
  • In the Dark Corridor at the very end, closest to the door that leads to the Library (King Boo will say Corridor)
  • In the Library on the upper floor, to the left of the door that leads to the Boo Labyrinth (King Boo will say Library)

Steps 2 - 5 can be completed in any order

Step 2
Step 2a
Turn a total of 9 bookshelves (can be any bookshelf, even the same one as long as the total turns add up to 9). You'll be able to tell if you've turned at least 9 bookshelves as some text will pop up telling you that you have unlocked the final hint.

Step 2b
You now need to find the 3 bookshelf hints that have appeared somewhere around the map in the hint boxes. You can find these boxes in walls and trees. Ignore and hint boxes that don't have a book inside, as these are not part of this easter egg step. You can also ignore the one in the Library, just before the ramp leading up the second floor as this simply tells you how to do Step 2a.

Once you have found these, they will give you hints on which numbers it could possibly be, including:
  • The number is even or odd
  • The number is in the Library or not in the Library
  • The number is behind a bookcase containing at least one row of red, blue or yellow books.

Here are all the locations of the hint boxes:
  • In the Courtyard, in a wall that separates the Courtyard from the Entrance Gate, right next to the Ghostly Gate.
  • In a tree at the Entrance Gate, just before the Perk Square.
  • In a tree in the Riverside Garden, just after the stairs from the Mansion Hall.
  • In one of the back walls in the Riverside Garden.
  • In a wall on the Balcony, closest to the entrance of the Green Gallery.
  • In a wall in the Green Gallery, to the left of the entrance that takes you out to the Balcony.
  • In a wall in the Green Corridor, between a window location and the elevators.
  • In a wall in the Dark Corridor, between the elevators and the door that leads to the Connector.
  • In the Mansion Hall, to the right of the right carpet elevator.
  • In the Mansion Hall, on the left heading towards the Twisted Hallway and just before the door that leads to the Connector.
  • In a wall at the back of the Twisted Hallway.
  • In a wall in the Library on the lower floor, to the right of the Boo Blocker.
  • In a wall in the Library on the upper floor, to the right of the ramp leading up to the upper floor.

Step 2c
You should now have the three hints so you can eliminate the bookshelves it cannot possibly be. It's possible there could be more than one bookshelf it could still be. If this is the case, you would have to guess between the potential numbers, and if the answer was incorrect, but in the next one and so on. Here are the locations for the 11 bookshelves:
  • [In Library] On the lower floor, to the left of the original book hint box.
  • [In Library] To the left of the previously mentioned bookshelf, down a narrow passage.
  • [In Library] On the lower floor, opposite the first mentioned bookshelf.
  • [In Library] On the lower floor, down the curved passage, below the upper balcony.
  • [In Library] On the lower floor, to the right of the door that leads to the Dark Corridor.
  • [In Library] On the upper floor, to the left of the door that leads to the Boo Labyrinth.
  • [NOT in Library] In the Connector, it's a tiny room so you'll see it.
  • [NOT in Library] Also in the Connector, it's a tiny room so you'll see it.
  • [NOT in Library] In the Royal's House Side Entrance room. You need to walk up the log in the Courtyard to get there.
  • [NOT in Library] On the lower floor of the Royal's House, just in front of the tables.
  • [NOT in Library] Same as the previous bookshelf location.

You can now go put one of the numbers you have narrowed down into the first dial at the Mansion Entrance.

Step 3
Go to the Royal's Garden and find the statue in the middle. As long as one player is in the Royal's Garden, all the Boos on the map will start coming towards that area. When you see a Boo, shoot it when you standing within the arrows pointing to the King Boo statue. If you do it correctly, the Boo will fly into the statue. To release the tongue and see the number, you will need to contain all Boos on the map into the statue. The amount of Boos on the map depends on the player count.
  • 1 Player = 3 Boos
  • 2 Players = 6 Boos
  • 3 Players = 9 Boos
  • 4+ Players = 12 Boos

Boos can escape the statue after a certain amount of time. You will hear a Boo laugh sound effect when this happens. If they escape, just shoot them again. After the tongue releases, go to the Royal's House Balcony to have a better view at what the number is, then go put it in the second dial at the Mansion Entrance.

Step 4
Enter the Maze of Instant Confusion. You will see green, yellow and red lights on the floor. Red lights you cannot step on, they are invisible walls and always will be. Green lights you can always walk on, and yellow lights are soul boxes. If you fill up a yellow light, it will turn into a green light. However, not all yellow lights will lead players to a correct path. At the end of a yellow light could be a red light, meaning players will need to find a new yellow light to fill up. Once you've reached the end, check the number on the wall opposite the elevator. Then go put this number in the third dial at the Mansion Entrance.

Step 5
Step 5a
To start this step, you will need to teleport to pack a punch one time. There are 4 pressure plates around the map, and all 4 need to be pressed at the same time. Some of these pressure plates may already be pushed down though. These ones can be ignored. The active amount of pressure plates depends on the amount of players alive in the game. You will only need to stand on the ones that are already up. Here are the locations of the 4 pressure plates:
  • In the Dark Corridor, at the opposite end to where the corridor valve is.
  • In the Green Gallery, between two of the manual doors.
  • In the Royal's House Side Entrance, underneath a log directly to the left when walking into the room. Use the log in the Courtyard to access this room.
  • On a raised platform in the Royal's Garden. Jump off the Balcony to the left to access it.

Step 5b
After teleporting to pack a punch, the 8 question mark statues across the map have turned into the 8 playable characters in the game. These statues are now soul boxes that only take in souls of the zombified character that the statue represents. For example, the only way to fill up the Mario statue is by killing the Mario zombies next to it. This means only 4 of the 8 statues can be filled up, as there are only 4 zombified characters each game. The only ones you need to fill up for the easter egg though, are the ones that represent the characters you are currently playing as.

After filling one of these up, a ghost will pop out of the statue and head to pack a punch. You will know when you have filled it as a message will pop up telling you the ghost wants you to follow it.

Here are all of the statue locations:
  • In the Courtyard, in the middle.
  • In the Royal's House Side Entrance room.
  • In the Royal's House on the lower floor, opposite the bookshelves.
  • In the Maze of Instant Confusion at the start.
  • In the Riverside Garden.
  • In the Mansion Hall on the upper floor, the same side as the Mansion Hall valve.
  • In the Green Gallery.
  • In the Library on the lower floor.

Step 5c
After filling up each statue of your playable characters, head back to pack a punch and you should find dead bodies of your characters that you can move. There will be one for each of the characters you are playing as. When you have moved a body, you will see a positive or negative number underneath, stained in the blood. You will need to add all of these numbers together to get the true number, and put that in the forth dial at the Mansion Entrance. Certain characters can only spawn at certain spots, so if you're struggling for time, only look at the locations your character can possible be at. Here are all the dead body locations (front of the room refers to the side pack a punch is on):
  • Against the wall in the back left corner [Mario / Peach / Bowser Jr. / Toadette]
  • Diagonal from the previous location, a short distance away from it [Mario / Luigi / Wario / Bowser Jr.]
  • Counting the octagon wooden panels on the floor, 1 to the left of pack a punch, then 1 towards the back of the room from that [Luigi / Peach / Wario / Bowser Jr. / Toadette]
  • On the wooden octagon panel in the middle, closest to pack a punch [Luigi / Wario / Yoshi / Toadette]
  • On the wooden octagon panel in the middle, 2 away from pack a punch [Mario / Luigi / Diddy Kong]
  • Propped against the wall to the right of pack a punch [Yoshi / Bowser Jr. / Diddy Kong]
  • To the left of the purple door at the back of the room [Peach / Yoshi / Diddy Kong]
  • On the very right of the room, second wooden octagon panel from the back [Mario / Peach / Wario / Yoshi / Diddy Kong / Toadette]

Step 6
Step on the big pressure plate in front of the dials. If at least one of the dials are red, you will need to change the code and wait till next round to try the code again. If all dials are green, you have completed the easter egg and can now ascend into the rainbow tube. A boss battle is coming up so you should make sure you have all the perks and weapons you want, as you won't be able to go back from here.

Step 7
You will now be teleported to an alternate dimension, a dark version of the Mansion Entrance, Poison River, and Courtyard areas. Here you will need to find your physical bodies so you can transfer your soul from your temporary clone body to your actual body. All players will need to find their bodies and interact with them at the same time. Here are the locations for the bodies:
  • On the stairs leading up to where the Perk Square would be.
  • On the other side of the Poison River. You can cross it without a bridge as the water is drained in this dimension.
  • To the side of a tree after turning left when going through the Ghostly Gate to the Courtyard.
  • In front of the gate that cannot be opened, turn right and right again when walking through the Ghostly Gate.
  • Above the railings where you can drop back down to the Mansion Entrance, to the left of the gate that cannot be opened.
  • In front of a rock, face away from the gate that cannot be opened and walk straight.
  • At the back on the rock platform, overlooking where the Royal's Garden would be.
  • On a tree stump where the log leading up the Royal's House Side Entrance would be.

BOSS BATTLE
This boss battle is very different to other ones, as you cannot damage King Boo with your weapons. You instead need to use the red, green, purple and yellow ghost lights that are floating above you. You will need to guide them to the recharge stations in the middle of the room, wait for them to charge up above 56%, wait for King Boo to go underneath them and then shoot the ghost light to perform a mega flash that will damage King Boo.

To make a ghost light follow you, you will need to go underneath it. A ghost light cannot follow you if you already have one following you, if it's following someone else, or if the ghost light has been recently shot. Once you have guided a ghost light to a recharge station, it will begin to automatically charge on its own. You don't have to stand underneath the ghost light at this point. However, when it gets to 80% of power, you will need to manually charge the ghost light by going underneath it in the recharge station and holding down the Action Button. As long as the ghost light has at least 56% power, it will do damage to King Boo, but the lower the power the less damage it will do. The difference in damage between 99% and 100% is quite big though, so it's always worth trying to get it to max power. Getting it to 100% will also increase the range of the attack.

Phase 1 is a tutorial phase. You cannot die in this phase unless you purposely kill yourself, so use this phase to get used to the mechanics of the boss battle. Phase 2 is exactly the same except there are zombies now. In terms of damaging King Boo, Phase 3 is exactly the same as the previous two, except now there are no zombies and King Boo will try to kill you himself.

Phase 3 Strats
The strat you use for Phase 3 depends on the amount of players in the game. If you are in coop, King Boo will follow one player at a time. It's important that the player King Boo is following is constantly running and not looking behind to see where King Boo is, otherwise you're going to die. When King Boo stops sprinting, he may change the player he's targeting. Any players that are not being targeted should be charging up the ghost lights. The player King Boo is following should then run past the recharge stations, guiding King Boo through it, so the other players can then shoot the lights as soon as King Boo goes underneath them.

If you are on solo, this phase is much harder. Trying to recharge the lights is the hardest thing here as King Boo is always targetting you. The best way of beating this phase is by getting set up in Phase 2. Try and charge the green, red and yellow lights to 100% before Phase 3 starts, then use the purple light to perform the final attack on Phase 2. When Phase 3 starts, 2 of the 4 ghost lights will be removed, purple is always removed, then it's a 50:50 between red and green. The reason you wanted to use the purple light as the final light for phase 2 is because this light is 100% getting removed anyway for Phase 3, so it doesn't matter if it's not charged up anymore. At the start of Phase 3 you will now have both ghost lights charged to 100%, which is enough to take down King Boo. Simply guide him through the recharge stations and shoot the lights when he goes underneath them.

If you fail to charge the lights up in Phase 2, not a problem. As soon as King Boo stops sprinting, make sure he's as far away from the recharge stations as possible. Then quickly run over to the recharge stations to charge up the lights. You will have about 8 seconds before he starts sprinting again, so you may have to do this a couple of times.

To get a clear idea on when King Boo will start sprinting, listen to the beats to the music. You will hear 8 beats, then after that 8th beat he will start sprinting. 16 fast beats will play after that, then after that 16th beat, he will stop sprinting. So he will be sprinting for about 8 seconds, and not sprinting for 8 seconds, and will keep alternating between them.
