Getting started with IWK+
Getting started with Interactive World Kenshi + : (IWK+)

Interactive World Kenshi + (IWK+) adds a lot of new gameplay and survival options to Kenshi. This WIP information thread will help you get started quickly and give a few quality of life tips.

LOGGING INDUSTRY BASICS:

TREES AND LOGS
You get logs from logging some types of trees. Logs can be used to create lumber, sticks, buildings, and other items. There are several levels of logging research. This research will unlock lumber storage, processing, and other upgrades.

Hover your mouse over the base of a tree to see if it turns into a resource indicator. If it does you can right click a tree to start chopping or shift right click to set a job. For the most part, the higher the quality the tree, the larger the resource hit box will be.

LOGS AND STICKS
Sticks are used as building and crafting items. You get sticks from “chopping stumps”, which are built with a single wood log from the CRAFTING menu. You put logs into the chopping stump and then you chop those into sticks. Keep an eye on your workers with stick chopping jobs and make sure they don't chop up all your logs into sticks.

Sticks can also be gathered from Branchy Trees / Bushes. Right click on them as if you were logging a tree, and you will receive sticks instead of wood logs.

LOGS AND LUMBER
Lumber is created from logs at a “sawhorse” Here, logs are processed and cut into planks, poles, boards or beams, ready for use in construction and crafting. Lumber is a critical resource, as it is used along with stone to create building materials.

IWK+ BUILDINGS
WIP
Rat traps, fishing nets/rods, foraging bowls

These items are used as a building material, that is consumed to create your building, just like a sleeping bag.

Rat Traps
Place grubs inside to bait some rats.
For grubs collecting you need to build Forage for insects I.

Both building can be found in Farming tab, Foraging category

FINDING AND HARVESTING PLANTS IN THE WORLD:
There are 9 different types of plants to discover and harvest in the world.

[] Moonshine Mushrooms can be found in Forests and blue shining biomes, they are easier to spot at night. Moonshine Mushrooms are a hallucinogenic narcotic. Its illegal in most towns. You can make Moonshiner out of it with Cactus Rum. Also illegal in most towns.

[] Yuca Plants can be found in Okran's Pride and around the Swamps. You can fry or boil it to make food out of it.

[] Broc Flowers can be found everywhere. You can make herbal tea or healing powder out of it.

[] Xander Roots can be found in everywhere. It is hard to spot them. You can make splint kit or healing powder with it.

[] Quinoa you can find in a lot of places in the world. You can boil it with water, so you can eat it.

[] Sand Potatoes can be found in sandy biomes. You can eat it when you have roasted them on a campfire.

[] Shiwanko fruits can be found in the Vain, its a stinky slimy fruit which only is edible by Hivers. It grows only in biomes with acid rain.

[] Wild rice can be found in the swamps, you can use it like normal riceweed. In this mod you can make rice straw and craft some straw hats and sandals with it.

[] Poppies can be found in the SE parts of the map or at your local dealer. You can use the raw opium to sell as narcotics.

You can see examples of these plants in this image:

[IN NEXT UPDATE!?] To try to make them easier to pick out (and because they are more healthy) plants you can harvest are slightly larger than the ones you can’t harvest, and they grow in clusters.

Hover your mouse over a plant to see if it turns into a resource indicator. If it does, then left click on the plant to see if it is ready to harvest. If it is, you can long right click and choose “use” or you can just right click to start harvesting.

Harvesting plants in the wild uses your farming skill, and you will receive a message whether you were successful in gathering the crop or not. If you are successful then you can long right click the plant and choose “loot” to receive your prize!

Depending on the fertility of the area, it will be some time before you can come back and harvest this same plant again.

SCRAPWORK:
Scrapwork gives you the ability to gather scrap metal from the world and refine it into usable resources.

Hover your mouse over a piece of scrap metal in the world to see if it turns into a resource indicator. If it does you can right click to start collecting scrap. The higher your engineering skill the faster you will collect scrap metal.

You can research and build scrapwork benches to convert scrap metal into iron, iron plates, weapons, building materials and much more.

There is an expansion mod for Scrapwork that also adds in Scrapwork artifacts:
