Airliner Crash
*This post is not intended to be a complaint or to throw any shade at slayer, but to be a suggestion. Week one is an amazing mod and there is nothing else like it in Project Zomboid.

I recently lost my entire base, I had everything, food, water and shelter. I was ready to wait out the nuclear fallout. But on day 6, the airliner event landed directly on my base, instantly killing me, even in the basement, and burning all my loot. I think the event could be improved.

There are two solutions to the problem that I believe would help.
1. The airliner has to land at least a certain amount of tiles away from the player, this would keep the danger but allow a chance of survival.
2. The explosion from the aircraft is reduced just enough so that the player isn't instantly killed, but possibly injured, while underground.

Id like to see a config to disable the airliner event aswell.
not only does the airliner seem to follow me (I replayed in different places and replayed some same locations to see if there was a chance it hit other areas) and it always seems to aim for where I am.

You cannot hide underground from it, as the crash seems to affect you underground and although the turbine effect of pulling you towards it is cool, it works underground where there is no turbine; throwing you into the walls.

The first time was cool, but where it hits isn't random. I'm guessing you have to keep moving or be way deep in the forest to avoid it. It's a pity as there's no way to disable it or maybe it happen randomly (like the helicopter).

If the plane crashed in random locations I'd be okay with it too, but as it is. It's always an instant K.O. every game.

actually the explosions are not inflicting any damage for the player (besides fire). I was about to fix this but i don't want players to get angry so this is still open for debate. But the base destruction is a different thing. Week One is about destruction and this is the main direction and vibe of the mod. As I said many times, the standard pattern of basing and stashing that vanilla teaches does not work well here. At least not until the final solution. Getting rich in first 7 days would be cheese, the idea is not to get the game easier but harder.

so we're gonna die on day 6??

No you don't die bcs of the crash
I haven't tested the event a second time, I was standing still in the west point police station basement for days. It maybe could've been a fluke, all i saw were the explosions from the aircraft heading towards me and my character dying a second later. And I agree that your base should never be safe, no matter how fortified, but I do think that you should have some control over it.

But I trust that slayer will make the right decisions.

i will test it more, but I agree that there must be some control

my current play the plane almost hit my base I am building out in the middle of the woods, but I like to concept of the final event.
I went away on day six and just stayed in a random farmhouse til the plane crash happened and returned home. The only thing that DID annoy me was i spent days putting everything in my basement to wait out the final bombing run and the fire still set everything inside my basement on fire when I thought it was supposed to be the safe place to be when the bombing and nuke goes off. Turns out you have to stay away from your base completely until you get the 9am Day pop up on day 8
nothing like basing in the middle of the woods just to have a plane land directly on you

You can literally run away from the palce where you've been at the moment when the "airliner crash music" had started playing and survive

You can make a base to stay at for a long time AFTER the 1st week passes to avoid any kind of destruction. It might also be more interesting to play in a more slow pace as well as you won't risk your well-stocked safehouse getting destroyed by the crashing plane or sth

After my base got hit twice I learned to stay away from base. My issue with this event is that the amount of survivors from the plane crash tanks the frame rate so bad I could barely moved and died from getting shot by other bandits. I created a new character to retrieve the loot but once going back to the location the frame rate drops again.
