Q: What does Rio Remastered add/change from the original?
A: Rio Remastered adds 11 animals, 17 vehicles, a completely unique item pool featuring 1500+ items, remodels of old Rio assets, revamped visual identity, rewritten lore, BOPE and Coalition presence, and NPCs!

Q: What happened to my save?
A: If you had a save on the original Rio de Janeiro, it will not carry over to Rio de Janeiro Remastered due to being incompatible with the original map's vanilla items.

Q: Why can't I craft X item?
A: Some items are locked behind blueprint books, which can spawn anywhere in the map, such as the DiY Book, Front Handybook, etc. Some rarer blueprints can also only be unlocked by finding a physical blueprint hidden in some locations.

Q: Can you unlock crafting recipes permanently?
A: Yes! After crafting some items a handful of times, you memorize it, no longer requiring it's associated book in order to craft it.

Q: What's up with these book items?
A: There are three types of books: Blueprint books, Memorization Books, and Experience Books. Blueprint books can unlock crafting recipes by simply having them in your inventory, and can be merged with other Blueprint books to unlock more recipes. Memorization books grant you a memorization point towards a set of items when consumed, and Experience books grant you a little bit of Exp when consumed.

Q: Is the map Vanilla?
A: Although based on the original map's layered progression, it has a couple of changes to the gameplay to make it a little more challenging. It also does not use items or assets from vanilla, with rare exceptions for i.e. some objects.

Q: Will my weapon skins work on this map?
A: Although skins aren't shared as Rio items have different models, your mythicals, kill effects and kill counters should work as usual.

Q: Are there any free cosmetics?
A: There are three freebies that you can earn: Sproutheads, Horde Backpack, and Chaos Pendant. To earn them, you need to complete the 'Sprout Up!', 'Broken Chains', and 'Chaos Theorem' achievements.

Q: Is the map PvE or PvP oriented?
A: It's a mix of both; Although military and coalition presence is increased, you will still have to fight zombies (and sometimes animals) to get stuff.

A: Unsubscribe from Rio de Janeiro [Classic].

Q: What happens to the original Rio?
A: It has been renamed to Rio de Janeiro Classic, and unlisted. You can still find the map here , but Rio de Janeiro Classic is discontinued and will not be maintained.

Q: Can I install both Rio Classic and Rio Remastered at the same time?
A: You can, but it will cause problems; Being a remaster, some assets that carry over from the original map could conflict with the new map's assets. We recommend you uninstall or disable Rio de Janeiro Classic on the Workshop tab.


Q: Can I reupload the map?
A: You can reupload the map, as long as you link to the original and do not try to take credit for it. For example, RP edits or Translations are okay, but reuploads with no changes whatsoever are not allowed.


Q: Can I use the assets for my map?
A: You can, however you should link to Rio de Janeiro Remastered or Classic. Keep in mind that Rio's objects drop Rio's items, so consider creating overrides for your needs.


Q: Will Rio Remastered receive more updates?
A: Yes.
