3,000 subs! A Sneak Peek of what's to come, Ideas, and a Little of Begging?
Wow, three thousand (more, at the moment of writing this, actually) people actually subbed to this mod (and, hopefully, enjoyed it)— can I even call it niche anymore!?

First of all, thank you — to everyone who's been here since the very beginning, and to all the new players who decided to give the mod a try. Whether you stayed or realized it wasn’t for you, thank you so much for playing.

Well, it's been a while since the last dev blog? person bored at home yap? just me wanting to share my thoughts with others than my cat? (I don’t even have a cat, so feel free to meow in solidarity).
So, what's been going on these months since last time? Let's review it:

Sound and voice design
As you may have noticed (or rather, heard), there are constantly new sounds replacing old ones. I do this because I want you, the player, to clearly understand what’s being fired — not necessarily aiming for ultra-realism, which honestly doesn’t blend well with vanilla anyway. Instead, I try to go for iconic sounds, especially for unsuppressed weapons, specially for unsuppressed guns.
Have you checked them out yet? Got a favorite? Did anyone actually open the map editor and place the French allies? Questions... and more questions. (And yes, I do hope someone actually answers).

Now, about the voices: you're still hearing AI-generated lines. However, I’ve got one (1) brave volunteer working on recording real voice lines — and man, the difference is amazing. Progress has been slower than expected because, well… he's recording inside a car. In Spain. With current temps between 28ºC and 41ºC. So yeah — not exactly ideal recording conditions.

A small preview of the human recordings is already included. If you want to listen to them, go into the mod files → sounds/voices → and replace the contents of spanish_noaccent with those in spanish_noaccent - human WIP.

Help wanted?

Yes, of course, I can still pull things a little with AI voices, but the human voice is still miles better, so... I am in a dire need of voices, for both the Spanish and French units. Yes, you have read correctly, French allies are intended to have their own voice pack, as well as the OpFor. So, for those reading this, if you speak Spanish or French, and want to lend a hand, it would be greatly appreciated.

Right now I need a voice for the Spanish Commander, Off-map Sniper and several troopers, basically enough as to make each unit unique on their accent.

If you're from Latin America, that's perfectly fine — brothers and sisters from across the ocean also serve in the Spanish Armed Forces!

As for the French, I'd need at least one voice actor for the troopers (they appear as allies on some maps — you can rescue them or just see them doing their thing). The OpFor faction also needs voices, ideally split into:

  • Pirates.
  • Gendarmerie & Armée.
  • Commandos & DNSE.

If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

About the Frenchs, I would seriously need at the very least one person to voice the Troopers, right now they're just allies you can find in some maps, rescue them, or see them doing their thing. OpFor also needs their own actor, although ideally they would have one for the pirates, one for the Gendarmerie and Armée and other for the Commandos and DNSE.

    Campaign and other things
The story driven campaign is still in the works, so, for now, I had thought about putting together a small Tour of Duty called Operation Callypso, The idea is to help players get familiar with the new units added by the mod instead of having to constantly spam the RMG.

If you are interested, let me know and I'll try to polish the details as much as possible and include it next patch, as it causes crashes from time to time when you try to generate a campaign or a new week in the dev version.

New gear, new units and Task Force Galgo

This patch includes the Alcotán C-100, a 100mm anti-tank grenade launcher. That said... aside from some variations of the G36, or old weapons like the CETME A/B and Coruña M44, there’s not a lot of Spanish gear left that I can realistically add. This really limits how much new content I can introduce.

So, I’ve started a side project: Task Force Galgo. The idea is to separate new concepts and units into their own space. Right now, I’m testing the viability of this project using the Regulares as the base.

For those unfamiliar, the Regulares are African units created during Spain’s presence in the Sahara. They are the most decorated unit in the Spanish military and have always fought on the frontlines. Similar in role to the Legión, they are elite shock troops — so the challenge is making them feel unique enough gameplay-wise. That may depend heavily on their doctrines and how they influence gameplay variety.

    Somebody help? (again?)

I tried reaching out to members of the FFAA Mod for ArmA 3 (if you don’t know them — their scope is like this mod’s, but 40 times bigger). Unfortunately, they’ve disbanded, and the team is now a skeleton crew trying to rebuild for ArmA Reforger.

Why does this matter? Because they have AMAZING vehicle models — and that’s exactly what this mod lacks: Spanish vehicles to populate maps and give them proper identity.

I’m not skilled enough to create these from scratch, and of course I won’t rip them from ArmA. So — if there’s any 3D modeler out there reading this — your help would be a huge boost for the mod!

My objective is to have a Lince MRAP, a VAMTAC ST5, a BMR-600 in APC, Ambulance and Command configurations, VEC-25 Cavalry vehicle, a Centauro tank destroyer, and a Piranha IIIC, in both APC and Recce configurations. However, I'm not skilled enough to pull these models on my own, and of course, I'm not gonna rip them off from the ArmA mod.

    TL;DR

  • There’s not much new equipment left to add

  • I need help with voices (Spanish and French)

  • I’d love to include vehicles, but need 3D modeling help

If you’ve made it this far: thank you again — for reading, for playing, for just being part of this community.

If you have any questions, suggestions or complaints, feel free to use the comment section! (Well — preferably use the forums so I can actually find your feedback later.)
