Soviet Field Engineer Salvage Kit - Needs a Buff
Oberkommando West
- Various Combat-Centric Infantry such as Volksgrenadiers and Sturmpioneers can salvage
- Does not require salvage kit upgrade
- Can improve salvage operations using Battlegroup HQ for additional munitions
- Can salvage abandoned team weapons
- Can salvage abandoned vehicles

Reward?
Guaranteed +5 fuel for abandoned team weapons and wrecks
Thorough Salvage adds 15 additional munitions per wreck
Abandoned vehicles grant 12 fuel and 36 munitions
Even a Kubelwagen yields 5 fuel on salvage
The OKW salvage is consistent gives you a hard-number reward rather than basing it on RNG. What it says is what you get.

Soviets
- Must deploy Engineers/Field Engineers and not mainline combat infantry
- Must upgrade to Salvage Kit for 100 Munitions
- Cannot salvage abandoned team weapons
- Cannot salvage abandoned vehicles for additional resources
- Salvaging is based on the health of the vehicle wreck which can vary depending on battle conditions and potentially reward more or less.
- Salvaging slowly reduces vehicle wreck health, which can cause it to get destroyed early if hit with explosives such as tank fire.
- Salvaging is based on RNG

Reward?
0-3 fuel and munitions per wreck, dependent on vehicle class
Light vehicles such as Kubelwagen and Luchs Tank give out 0 every tick, occassionally giving out 1 fuel or munition.
Heavy Tanks like the King Tiger only reward 4-8 fuel and munitions which, relative to the effort needed to even *destroy* them, is absolutely not even worth considering and pales in comparison to Oberkommando West.

While it's understandable that the salvage operations should be the unique aspect of the Axis, it's still incredibly unreasonable to make the kit cost SO much with so little in return. The investment is frankly pointless. Why would any Soviet player want this if this just adds micro and resource wasting.

Is it not possible to simply give them "Salvage Operations" or "Thorough Salvage" as an ability instead?

Addendum : Ostheer Pioneers and Support Pioneers can upgrade to a Salvage Kit for a quarter of the price at 25 munitions and they get the basic OKW Salvage ability.
The disparity for a single ability is enormous.

The UI for the salvage ability from the Soviets and UKF is bugged and wrong. The values are as following:
Ammo/Fuel:
Ultra Lights 10/5
Lights 15/10
Mediums 25/20
Advanced Mediums 35/30
Heavies 50/40
Super Heavies 60/45

The salvage ability gives you the hp% of these resources. An average tank will get you 10-15 fuel. This is much more rewarding than any other salvage ability.

You can observe your total resources while using the ability and see that they increase rapidly.

Didn't notice the actual increments since I enabled infinite resources
First sight of this threw me off so hard

I've complained about this before, and you had to explain it to me. Wouldn't it be wise to update the tooltip (of the upgrade) to prevent this confusion?
