Heroscape
Is the creator of this still active? Looking for permission to use set
Hey so I'm working on an ultimate Heroscape set, featuring every pausible model I can get a model and rules for, and would like to include the base set models from your mod. Im also working on importing the C3V heroscape cards and models from heroscapers custom work, and if you would like to add those to your mod once they are done, you would be welcome to. Thanks and hope to hear from ya soon

Hey Slartibart.
The problem is, if you decide to make a mod with all existing models, you probably won't have enough space. That's why Dissonance decided to focus on only releasing official models from the game. It would be impossible to add ALL the 20 waves of C3V models (putting aside the lack of scans)!
It would be better for you to focus on creating separated mods with specific figures, the way @Dogster did.
However if you do have any 29 of the missing models for this mod, we would gladly accept your help!

What do you mean by space? I have a mod right now with a crazy amount of models in it right now, and am having no issues at all. what limit should i be looking at?

Sorry I missed this thread I didn't get a notification when it was created. You say you have had no performance issues, is this a Heroscape mod you are talking about or something else? Heroscape is different to most other games because the battlefields are so modular and can be absolutely massive, if you combine this with a large number of figures, particularly if they are poorly optimised people will begin hitting performance problems making the game unplayable.

How many triangles are you budgetting for your models? Are you sculpting these yourself or scanning them? What are you using for collision meshes for your figures?

Feel free to add our terrain pieces and props to your mod, once you've posted it to the workshop let us know so we can take a look at it before we agree on letting you make an all in one "ultimate" heroscape mod that includes the classic figures from this mod.

My models are almost entirely pulled from various pc and video games, so triangles tend to be random based on the indiviudal model. Ive had a couple hundred of the models out at the same time without any issues, and plan on having most of them in bags anyways, which I assume doesn't really effect peformance

Like I said the problem is that when combining a large army with large Heroscape battlefields people do experience performance issues, I've even heard of people crashing the game using the biggest maps and that's using figures that have been optimised down to 4k triangles which is really low compared to what you would get from ripping random content directly from other games.

Also if you're just using models from other games how are they going to look like the C3V figures on the army cards? I doubt many of the hardcore fans or the custodians of the original project would be happy with you labelling it as C3V if they are not a reproduction of the original models.

Won't let me comment on the main page for some reason. I commented on your thread on heroscapers about helping out with the the shades of bleakwood and samuri archers. I would just need to be talked through the process.

You should post in the "WANTED! (Scans of missing models)" thread for discussion on how to scan models. Guzma is the expert in this field, but I can give you a little detail.

The models are scanned using Autodesk's Recap 360 system (which is a free online photogrammetry service) you need to take a large number of photos from different angles but at the same distance from the model. Then upload the 30 best of these to Recap and it will process these "in the cloud" to make a model. Post links to the .obj files for this model in the "WANTED! (Scans of missing models)" thread where it will be reviewed and feedback provided. If your scans are used in the mod you will be eligible for contributor status.

Also if by any chance you own any of the other missing figurines and have time, don't hesitate scanning those too!
