Flight Technology Discussion
So, I have run into an issue with so many aircraft going into this mod, is that they are not really seperated by technologies like I want them to be. I don't want someone to get a Sopwidth Camel, and then 5 tech's later, they have an F-18.
I am considering adding in a new technology, or two, related only to aircraft upgrades, but could yield other benefits as well.

Realistically, I'm looking for ideas. I would like a technology going in between Flight and Radar, that would allow aircraft in between WW1 and WW2. And 2 tech's going in between Radar and Lasers/Stealth, that would allow for the aircraft post WW2, for instance aircraft of the 1960's & 1970's, and another tech to cover aircraft from 1980's to early 1990's.

I was thinking of tech's like
ADVANCED RADAR
GAS TURBINE ENGINE
FLY BY WIRE
TURBOPROP
COMPOSITE FRAMES

Any other ideas?

looks cool and makes a lot more sense than the current vanilla g&k and bnw flight techs I feel like flight is an underdeveloped front in civ V thanks for making this stuff

If the top or bottom of the tech tree is empty, like a tech on top between two techs and nothing on the bottom side, add a tech and put one of the planes in the top tech in the bottom tech. Top as in side of the sideways tech tree closest to top of screen, not as in closest to end of tech tree.

Well, the tech's need to go whereever the fit in right. The only mod I'm making it compatible with is Beyond the Future, which adds other technologies, so have no fear with that one.

How about some sort if jet fuel tech tree, (enchanced fuel, or jet fuel?) because the fuel used by WWI bi-planes is not the same used by modern fighters.

Actually it is - The only difference between some of the fuels is the octane level. There are some airplanes out there that use regular gasoline, but the majority of them use diesel fuel. Modern planes use high octane diesel fuel (like 102 octane) for JP-5 or JP-8. Great idea though amreed238. thanks for contributing!

Good idea.. UAV's are pretty late game though, most of those techs take a lot to produce. I think integrated circuits might be an idea, as well as wireless communications

The wireless communication could be a late rennaisance era-early industrial era tech, because WWII squadrons of all nataiona did use it. though I guess that could be considered short range radio.

They used basic Radio, which is already a tech. I'm talking about Wi-Fi, Cell phones, Fiber Optics, etc.. more advanced things like we have today.

I think with my next mod, expanded ships, extra tech's will go in for sure to help balance things out when they get overpowered.

Nice to see people like you who are still moding for Civ5 since Beyond Earth has come out. Just want to give you my support because I know how much work this is. Can't wait for more of your mods!

Thanks man - I refuse to buy BE at $60 - I will wait for a steam sale, also from what I've read, the game 1/2 way sucks and needs polish.. I'll wait for patches.. lol
