so in the skyrim case, bethesda decide to take 50%, and valve cut another 50% from the remain
at the end modder get only 25% of the total income.
Besides that, modder need to earn 400+ dollars before getting a cent.
better put a donate button rather than that, at least the modder can get most of the donation
When I was a little Altroth I would come home from school and play Homeworld. The first one. I adored the game. I loved space. I loved when the Taiidan Cruisers would go "Heavy Cruiser clear and under own power" as they left the bay. But I always hated that you could only play 2 of the 4-5 races you saw in HW1. But, again, I was little. Modding a game was waaay below me.
Ditto Homeworld Cat, though maybe not so much HW2. I prolly had the power then to at least take a swing at it, though I guess I lacked the desire. Regardless, I was annoyed HW2 did not even so much as touch up on any of the races introduced in HW1/Cat. You hear nothing of the Turanic Raiders, the Taiidan Republic, or of the "Council" introduced at the end of HW1.
So when this came out, I went "You know what? I am going to make a mod! I want to play as the Turanic Raiders." I did not go looking to see if anyone else had done it, I wanted to do it myself with as little outside help as possible. And uhh it kinda grew up from that somehow.
That said, if someone does charge for a mod, well that is their biz I guess. I grew up with modders making mods on their free time with the goal of sharing their enjoyment of the game with others for no charge.
If anything I would incorporated a donate for tacos button on the page. Because, hey, free tacos. Who is going to say no to free tacos? No one, that is who.
All hail the mighty tacos, thank you for the reply.
