After Action Reports
Hey all. I decided to write some AAR of my encounters with stuff from this mod. I hope that some of you may find it interesting to read my little stories )

AAR 01: Drone Carrier Suprise

World set up
Infinite medium density
Planetary system with a modded skybox
Cargo ships, encounters, unknown signals all on
Oxygen, progression are on
Rates are all realistic (welding, grinding, mining, refinery and crafting)
Mods:
- infinite speed
- OKI Weapons Bundle
- OKI Cargo Ship Expansion
- Surface Occupation
- Air Traffic

Starting conditions and early progress

I`ve picked that space rescue ship as a spawning vessel and immidiatelly started to collect resources for an array of solar panels and extra batteries since hydrogen engine is meh meh...

I deliberately avoided any cargo ships and ran away from stations in order to progress far enough to be able to fight these (magnesium is a problem to obtain...).

Looking for encounters

We all know these flashing 'MAYDAY' signals here and there, right? And the trouble locating them in space is known to everyone as well, i suppose. So the first thing after settling power issues and expanding refinery capacity was to find a way to locate and track these signals.

That`s where OKI Targetter Unit comes in handy!

This device fires harmless projectiles at the closest enemy / neutral grid within 10 km radius and is rather cheap to set up. Locating and heading to one of these MAYDAY signals was now much easier and i went after one of them.

Derelict Mining Ship

The signal turned out to be a ruined mining ship with a few turrets still active. Overcomming these wasn`t an issue even to my only 2 gatling turrets that i had.

Once i secured the derelict i had to switch my turrets off to avoid any damage to the derelict. This was my first mistake...

Being totally consumed by adding a few grinders to my already modified vessel i didn`t pay attention to a newly spawned cargo ship signal. That was the second mistake...

A drone controller - a relatively rare ship from this particular Cargo Ship mod - has arrived and immidiatelly started to spawn drones that headed in my direction. I was in my ship`s cockpit recharging energy and refilling oxygen when the first wave of OKI Rocket Drones and Gundrones arrived.

Violent Fight

The first thing that i tried to do is to enable turrets. I was able to do just this when a salvo of missiles and 50mm burstcannon shots blasted through my cockpit and wiped out my seat (i was able to jump off of it though!).

Turrets were able to destroy the first wave easily, but when i faced the Drone Controller Signal - i saw this:

Another bigger wave was incomming and i had no means to run away now. So i had to fight with the only weapon i had... a grinder :D

A wave after wave of drones came after me and soon my turrets ran out of ammo (i did mention that magnesium is a ♥♥♥♥♥ to find, did i?).

A few of the drones accelerated to fast that their debris collided with my ship ruining my solar pannels and blowing a part of my ship`s armor (in the middle here).

The whole fight took around 20 minutes while Drone Controller was passing through. It kept throwing drones at me all that time and i didn`t risk to chase it since it is pretty well armed for a dude with a grinder to stop it.

End of battle

By the end of this fight my ship was disabled, turrets dried, derelict`s valuable parts destoyed (since i too lately realised that i can turn off large grid targetting on these).

However, the amount of salvage from all these drones (that i accounted 16 in total) was enough to compensate for the damage dealt.

Uranium, ammo, thruster parts, reactor parts and other stuff in general allowed me to progress into reactor era and wipe out any power issues for the future.

Out of this encounter i came victorious and with a new ship (that was build out of the left overs from the miner and my initial ship as well).

Conclusion

Pay attention to whatever spawns out there! That Drone Controller was enough to cause trouble, but if instead of it a Strike Group Coordinator ship would have arrived... >:)
