Mirage Dusk

An actual critical review
While everyone else is talking about how great this map is, I am kinda skeptic about it due to the description itself. All he did was slap a skybox made by someone else into the valve map. Now it's just my opinion, since they are NO changes whatsoever to the map other than the skybox he might have taken from the other person. I would like if the said "maker" of dusk Mirage could tell me if this is true or not.

Based on all of this I give it a 3/5 for a community map, 2/5 for not making his own skybox if he didn't.

i dont think anyone is calling him a genius, its just a bit of fun and youre over thinking it here. no need for ''critical reviews'' its mirage, at dusk, end of.

I was expecting an analysis on the lighting of the map when I saw that title, not on how much effort went into the map. To answer your question, yes, I did give the map new lighting and nothing else. The skybox was made by Mr. Chop who has generously released many for public use.

While the amount of effort that went into implementing the new lighting is nowhere near that of which is needed to make an entire map, it still requires at least a few days of work. A lot of that work is fine tuning the lighting to ensure that the level is properly lit as to not hinder gameplay, but also keep in line with the theme and atmosphere of the map. I'm no expert at lighting, but I wanted to improve my abilities, so I worked on illuminating official maps.

After a while it was shown there was significant interest in being able to play these night maps, so I packed up the first one I worked on for release, Dust 2. As you can see, it got an incredibly favorable reaction and an impressive amount of attention. Far more than it was deserving given the time spent I spent on it. There are plenty of talented mappers out there that people should be praising instead of a rehash of a classic map.

Blade x64 dont listen to that fool. Hes is probably jealous that you get so much attention for this (for a very good reason!). I really like what you do and because of you I will make my map which Im currently working on a night map.

Blade x64 thanks for clearing this up
and @Aizawa I'm not bashing on him if you read my discussion fully, he did quite a nice job with the other lighting.

Please read the comments that I say from what I say please, I am not hating anything about what the devoloper did. He executed the lighting perfectly, I was just curious about the skybox.

This trend of changing the lighting and skybox of existing maps is lazy mapping at its best.

Intresting thing to make a standard map by night. I wonder when such maps come in stardard map pool, but to some event it will be nice to use this night maps. Just for a other view. CS:GO looks always the same otherwise.
