Maybe a "Pay what it's worth" option. A donation box where you can decide how much to pay based on the quality of work, helpfulness/accuracy of the modder's description, how much you have, etc.

A donate button is absolutely perfect. Modding is not something done with money as an end goal. If you get money through endorsements and donations, that's just a bonus that reflects the effort and quality of your work.

If there were a donate button, there would be more incentive for authors to create quality content. Higher quality content -> more endorsements/donations -> more money.

A donate button wouldn't generate as much money for bethesda and valve as this paid stuff. I don't think many people believe this is about supporting the modders.

It absoloutely wasn't about supporting modders, Valve just wanted to see how much they could cash in on modders' hard work. I would love the option to donate to some modders who've created excellent works, but i'm not giving half of it to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Valve. I try and get all my mods from Nexus when i can anyways. On to awesome news, it worked! :D Valve backed down from paid mods.

but then they would have had to hand 100% of the donation to the developer ! (instead of 25% or whatever it is)
