A mod is made to extend the life of a game as a spare source of entertainment by fans, for fans, and even serves for the talented bunch to put their foot in the door, and makes a great portfolio for obtaining a job at a game company. It is NOT made to be a simple cash-grab for lazy designers to shovel onto people's unsuspecting heads for little to no effort. If you want to get paid for your work, make your own game. Or hell, just make a hat for TF2 or Dota or a skin for CSGO and make thousands that way. As for me, I know a few people willing to make a small animation team at college.
Remember, an acedemic backround in anything is useless without legitimately putting it to work and showing it off yourself.
Good Point But If Paid Mods Came Out It Would Ruin The Work Shop Cuz Theres Going Be Some $50 and 1 out of 12 people will buy it and rich people will just spend money away when poor people get nothing and college kids will get more money then there parents! SO LEGIT! NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
