Dark Wall Destiny - Deck Building Game

The Origins of Dark Wall
Earth is a lost legend, a tale told around a plasma fire to inspire greatness. Man has been living in space far longer than historians are willing to admit. Home is a vast span of metal farther than the eye can see. We simply call it "Dark Wall". Larger than any known world, not many have ventured beyond their small chunk, even fewer have seen the edge. No one knows the entire layout and even the known areas are mysteriously dense abandoned cities that hold bizarre structures.

Now, the stars have changed. Night and day merged into one. The greatest minds determined the reason: Dark Wall's course and speed was artificially changed. Either by pilot or program, it was clear that someone or something was in control of Dark Wall and sending it on a new path. And even worse, astronomers discovered their path was a collision course with a giant star. There was no attempt to hide the truth: Dark Wall would be destroyed within several generations.

Settlements came together to form alliances and build fleets for a single purpose; alter the course of Dark Wall, by any means. Nations formed, armies raised and soon war erupted. Some nations wanted to force Dark Wall into orbit within any nearby solar system. Other nations fought to keep Dark Wall hurling through empty space to protect their way of life. Still others said that the destruction of Dark Wall was required to yield a new civilization from the ashes.

Centuries past, battles waged on, and armies dwindled. Soon, a massive joint operation was put together to venture deep into Dark Wall's core in search of ancient computers or records. After several years, the truth of Dark Walls design was revealed.

Darkwall was always destined to follow a changing path towards the distant giant star. The star was the home to more than 15 habitable worlds. Records revealed that when the Dark Wall would enter range of the planets, it would automatically break up into thousands of ships pre-programmed to deliver all of Dark Walls inhabitants safely to each of the four new worlds. However, scientists claim that the automated piloting programs were lost over time. Once Dark Wall breaks up, it would be up to the individual nations to gather their citizens and deliver them to their desired planets.

----------- The Beginning of the End -----------------

The first group to make a strong claim on new home worlds was Komaguje. They had perfected the art of colonization and long term stasis. However, their xenophobic natures infuriated other groups who sought their technology and assistance. After several bloody battles, it became clear that their military was unfit for defense against so many hostile nations. Therefore, the ruling council of Komaguje, known as the White Hand, signed an alliance with the merchant nation of Bara-Makal.

The agreement between the colonists and the merchants was mutually beneficial; Komaguje would procure choice supplies and equipment and request notification of all weapon arrangements with hostile nations, and in return, Bara-Makal gain exclusive access to the colonists wisdom and technology.

However, as true merchants, the drive for wealth and power was ultimately far more alluring for the Makal and they began secret arrangements with the Khath. Years passed, and the Khath soon began to tip their hand regarding their colony-building agenda. This led to even more bloody battles and eventually brought the Norlandar military to the aide of the Komaguje.

As the Khath and Makal built their fleets, Komaguje and Norlandar, along with their new Ma'l Kaaje allies, formed their own fleets.

Decades passed. More battles erupted. And eventually, the giant star system simply known as 'Destiny' faded into view.

The end has begun. Komaguje trigger their grand plan by separating a small section of DarkWall and sending it towards a safe orbit around the massive star. But something has gone wrong and the section has begun to break up with many parts still speeding toward the burning center.

All nations mobilize their fleets and head towards their new homes. Their final war would be for survival.

------------------ Nations -----------------------------------

Norlandar (Humans)
Norlandar is the largest and possibly oldest of all factions. Their organization, military strength, and economic fortitude are matched by their compassion and willingness to cooperate with others. They inspire a more civilized behavior and are generous with their wisdom (but not their technology).

Khath (Borans and Humans)
Second in size only to Norlandar, the Khath have honed their combat skills to ultimate perfection. While outnumbered by Norlandar, the Khath have often overpowered them in battle. Other factions have signed an 'aggression compensation agreement' with the Khath that prevents the Khath from attacking others, but also rewards the Khath for their battle protection. When a threat to a faction is defeated by the Khath, a Khath representative known as a "Defender Proxy" is sent to the faction to negotiate terms of compensation.

Volam (rTurrl and Humans)
Volam have mastered space fairing technology as well as weapons and defense. While their ambition is minimal compared to other factions, their desire for exposure is paramount above all. They seek to expand their technology and skills to reach into every life on Dark Wall and become immortal through their contributions.

Bara Makal (Boran and Humans)
The conglomerate of relation makers, called 'Makal,' is composed of many sub factions and clans. At the head of these lies the supreme administrative body known as the 'Bara.' Bara Makal is the sole group responsible for the oversight of all interfactional treaties, trades, agreements and politics. While the Makal are masters of trade and economics, the Bara has long been suspected of experimenting with ancient psychic-based technologies in order to maintain a superior negotiation position.

Mal-Kaaje (Telvani and rTurrl)
Few have been allowed access to the Kaaje's internal circles and even fewer have worked side-by-side with them. Their faction is organized into three branches; the Mal, who have mastered the technology of space exploration, the Bral, who have mastered the sciences of living matter, and the Ta'Na, who have mastered the abilities of the dormant mind. Of all three, only the Mal have most often been known to communicate with outside factions.

Komaguje (Telvani and Boran)
Secluded for eons far below Dark Wall and away from chaos and conflict, the Komaguje have perfected a self-sustaining ecosystem which has been reported to be a virtual paradise. They have known peace and comfort for far longer than records indicate. But with the discovery of Destiny, they have begun to adapt their paradise for transportation to a new world. To do this, they have reluctantly agreed to work with other factions. However, their paranoia and distrust create far more complications than their outdated customs.
