I am not sure if it is just my computer but the game crashes after it launches with an error message stating: "General Failure" in 6 languages

That is something that I haven't seen happen to many people, and I've seen some issues when a update fails to recompile with the local copy of the mod corrupting it, so my only recommendation would be to delete the mod from your computer so steam downloads it again.

The location should be around this one:
steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\DataWorkshopMODs\76561197996591152\509660937

Inside there you will find the mods big file, delete it or the entire folder, and restart steam for it to redownload it.

Report back your results.

Reading around I've heard that it could be caused by some settings in the last game profile used, first of all I would recommend you to create a new game profile for the mod in the vanilla game, if it still doesn't work, drop your video settings to default or minimum.

If you need to verify anything further without starting the game you can find the required files in the following location in your computer.

You can see which profile is loading by default:
steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\Bin\local.ini

You can find your profiles here:
steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\Bin\Profiles

Most likely all of the folders contents can be read with notepad.
The name of the profile is inside the name.dat and all the setting in PLAYERCFG.LUA

@BraveSoldier Thanks Sajuuk it worked, I was affraid it could be much more complicated.

Allright Krnt... Used your instructions to run the mod under a new profile after it didn't start the first time. Ran kinda fine, but then I couldn't get it to run a second time might have something to do with me editing color schemes and choosing badges
Wolf's Elegy 29 Sep, 2015 @ 3:38pm
I'm having the same problem but nothing I do seems to work.
Krnt  [developer] 30 Sep, 2015 @ 2:20am
@Washeek, I have never had any issue with selecting colors and badges, but maybe the game could be corrupting the profile in some way, if you could manage to send it to me, I would really appreciate it.

@November11Seven, please verify that the .big file in this location:
steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\DataWorkshopMODs\76561197996591152\509660937
is around 1.1GB, maybe steam has had some issues downloading it.

Hi, thanks for the reply, hope we will get to some resolution that might also help others.
So I did create another profile. Figured it might be because I started the Addon to the mod as well (I know, not ideal test conditions) and that it would also want a new new profile. It ran fine after that, alas again only for one game and after that started crashing again.

To clarify: The game crashes when loading a skirmish map. Everything untill then plays fine. The first new game with a new profile seems to work. After that it crashes somewhere midway through the map loading screen.

Having a look at the profile I'm seeing that you have not selected any of the starting fleet options, change between them, like Mothership or Mothership with Carrier or Carrier Only, and try again.
Washeek 2 Oct, 2015 @ 9:57am
Thing is I have... I tried both, but it didn't save within the profile file for some reason....

I have noticed, that (I'm not sure if all) skirmish settings I have set manually don't stay set after the crash. However due to the program not exiting properly, that is expected to happen...
On the other hand custom color schemes and badges do stay consistently saved even after the crash.

However however however... what os are you running? I tried win 8.1... Can try another machine with win 7 ulti and see if there is a difference

@Washeek, I'm running Windows 7 64bit, but I don't think the OS has anything to do with it, I tested the profile you sent me, and worked correctly, most likely the issue is elsewhere, I'm thinking that it could be a good idea to upload the big file to ModDB, to clear any of my other suspicions, thanks for your help.
Washeek 4 Oct, 2015 @ 11:58am
Ok. Thanks for your cooperation. It's always a nice sight to see people taking care and responsibility for their work. I'll continue testing the issue in my spare time and trying to rule out anything outside your mod itself. If it runs correctly with you and there are not many people with this problem, it could be my system ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ something up.
Krnt  [developer] 4 Oct, 2015 @ 5:42pm
Well, I'm not sure if there is few people with this issue, but I've heard of it from other mods, but I've never seen enough consistency with it, so for the moment I want to get rid of any other variable.
