so i took a look at the error logs and came back with this: HomeworldRM.exe caused a Breakpoint in module Debug.dll at 0023:00281b09.
I'm sorry for my late reply, since you have tried everything here I doubt I would be able to help you, this is an issue that I'm not sure why its caused.
For now the only thing left for me is to make a method for manual installation of the mod for the next release, but still with that I can't promise that it will work, and most likely you will end with even more issues, but its the only thing I can think of right now.

*I have to thank Washeek for confirming it.*
Ok the simplified solution is as follows:
-Unsubscribe
-Delete the mod from your computer:
Main mod folder: "steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\DataWorkshopMODs\*random number*\509660937"
And backup folder: "steamapps\workshop\content\*another random number*\509660937"
-Subscribe again, and let it download.
If that doesn't work blame steam for not checking the CRC for the files it downloads, and most likelly you will need to do it again.
The new compatible version is up, but its lacking a few features and can have some bugs.
