Ideas
Any ideas you come up with for new units please post here. I'm keen to see what people want added to the game! Obviously though I'm limited to whats possible in the mod tools, but don't let that hamper your creativity!

hi there, i actually have a lot of ideas for racial units, but can't use the mod tools at the moment (I got the game on GOG...)
anyways, here are some of my ideas:
Goblin Ninja Clan: lvl 1 goblin ninja, lvl 1 shuriken thrower, lvl 2 explosive shuriken thrower, lvl 3 sensai, lvl 3 chained troll.
Human Inquisition: lvl 1 zealot, lvl 2 paladin, lvl 3 witch hunter, lvl 4 grandmaster
Draconian: more primitive, use poison or fire... lvl 1 slither (spits poison) lvl 2 salamander, lvl 3 fire wyvern rider (or mod a new wyvern for them to ride) lvl 3/4 fire breather (probably 3)
Orc Fire Clan: give them explosive death, and most sun spear. lvl 1 grenade thrower, lvl 1 fire fist, lvl 2 elephant rider, lvl 3 half ogre
halfling: focus on magic and cavalry. lvl 2 herbalist/hedge witch, lvl 2 yak charger, lvl 3 sherrif
Dwarf Rune Magic: lvl 1 elemantal crossbow, lvl 2 gryphon rider (mage?), lvl 3 rune master
Tigran: add watchers, add fire cats, add hunter, create a mortician (think support, healing (live or ndead?) blight or cold damage...
Frostlings: Bleak Warg Riders / Arctic Wolf Riders, Ice Wyvern Tamer/Rider, Tundra Hermit, and give them the yeti, and the dire penguin
Elves: bring back the sword maiden, add a spider rider (for the dark elves) and a ranger.
As for dwellings: add bone and obsidian dragons
Add troll and yeti
add fairy dragon (if possible)
create a swamp wyvern if possible
make wyvern riders available at the dragon dwelling (lvl 3) (like a dragon bound society) and make the fire and bone riders melee focussed, frost ranged, and gold/obsidian support.

What about something like Iron guard for Mech class ? It's something between swordsman and mushketers, they have mushketers armor but also shield and swords, maby some class weapon's power like engineers have. Yeah, it looks like just redisign but I like the mushketers armor, but want to add them some melee weapon:dsfight:. Anyway, thanks.:HappyMask::reusapple:

@ Dwhitehair, Alot of those ideas sound good. There is one or two in particular which I really like and I will be incorporating soon. i won't say which ;)

@ Шадоби, Good idea, though it doesn't fit in my current 'racial units' mod. However it does give me an idea for an obvious followup mod some day. 'Class Reinforcements'! If and when I do this mod, the Iron Guard idea will certainly be included!

You should maybe make some more beefy tigran racial units.
They just seem so under powered in melee.

Well Tigrans were actually the next race I was planning to start work on... so that comment is well timed! I will see what I can do.

Please, please bring back the Halfling Sherriff as a mounted T3 with fire pistol. (Was his thing back in AoW2).

Also perhaps give the Archon Cavalry an innate version of the Noxious mounts ability? Just a thought. (The one Necros get from corrupted springs of life)

Human Swashbuckler i would love to see again, t2 i think? fire pistol and not bad in meelee

Also is double strike in aow 3? ive never bothered to look, but that was a nice mechanic to have on Dual wield units, i wonder if it can be added to like the high elf bladesman / Dwarven beserker if you decide to add it as well give them the feel of Dual wielding

I would love to see a dullahan for the necromancer. Focus on armor and curses. Full Plated Knight on foot with the Halberd. I think Goblin spider handlers would be fun. Dwarf thunder caller, call down lighting to strike foes. Orc Beast handler summon random T1-T2 beast and have skill to buff said beast. I will think of some more.

@ravenholme. Halfling Sheriff will be coming back. He won't have a pistol as standard though as that's abit too class specific for my liking... However if you take the dreadnought research which gives your cavalry a pistol? ;)

@Twiggy. Dual strike I did look into, doesn't seem much way to implement it though. The vanilla units with two weapons don't use it so think I'll leave that. Swashbuckler might well return though and dwarf beserker might come back when I start adding class units.

@ Lunar. A few interesting ideas there. The foot knights are already in the works in fact. The model is a little dodgy on foot though, need to find a good solution. Spider handlers seem like an interesting idea... I'll investigate.

In general though it has become obvious people want class units aswell as racial ones. Therefore eventually I will rename this mod and add in new units from all classes, races, dwellings and neutrals. It's a big job, I'll need advice from this community but I look forward to it!

High Elf Sword Sister - Female Melee support unit, Physical/Lightning damage, Stunning attack on Expert or Elite, And Phase/Sprint , maybe make it require a temple and a warhall? or barracks atleast kind of like it comes from the same sect as the Storm sisters

Could be cool for Classes that give some bonus' to supports

Frostling Flamebearer ( Couldnt think of anything better) 2h sword frostling low armor decent resist and fire Resist, i know its not very frostling like but could only be like 20% to counteract the - fire resist they get, maybe give frostlings some early game Aid in clearing out places like magma forges or fire mana nodes Could also do no physical damage and have like fire/frost damage per swing

@The dawg, Thats a fairly good idea, i might swap charge for that. Charge does seem a little off anyway.

@Twiggy, Sword maidens will deffinetly be going in. I have a few ideas drawn up already. Frostlings will be one of (if not the next) race to be getting a new unit. I was thinking something two handed. Your idea i very much like and I might well work it in somewhere.

@Lunar, Alas there are no centipedes in the game for me to use. Though I am working up something with spiders....

Since someone already recommended swash buckler there goes that haha.
Someone already suggested the Sherif for halflings, so I'll just throw some things I haven't seen in here.

Doombats for the orcs, Doombats were cool back when, and I haven't noticed them anywhere else in AoW 3 (but I could be wrong) Fear causing (so maybe despair?) Poison damage, so obviously some blight damage on their attack, underground concealment, well that speaks for itself, and nightvision so extended vision underground, and of course flying.

So Doombats could easily be a tier 3 unit or possibly tier 2 depending on how they're statted in the end and provide a unique combo of blight damage, flight, and underground traits which would add some more variety to the orc roster and an old unit at the same time.

Halfings could regain either the satyr or centaur as a racial unit, I don't know if we have models for them though.

Frostlings could get the Doom Wolf/Wolves back in their unit roster, it's originally a tier 4 so it could remain there or be downgraded to a tier 3.


If you are going to do class units in the future, then a vampire unit would be cool for the necromancer (since it was an old undead unit)
Besides that, I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I'm actually sad that as a necromancer I don't have alot of 'classic' units, I mean sure I can recruit archons, but that's not really making them now is it? Maybe the addition of class units for say 'Skeletal archers' 'Skeletal soldiers' and potentially 'death knights' would all be cool. Their stats wouldn't have to be all that different from existing units, but they'd either be independent of racial statistics (and thus have their own) or take them from the base city (those are orc/human/elven skeletons afterall!)

It'd be cool, or of course they could be summonables whichever.

Warlords could use afew units too,

perhaps a racial armored unit with heavy shields and swords, with their mechanical strength being a battle cry that grants them steadfast for one turn or some similarly impressive, but short lived and highly tactical skill representing their discipline and fury.

I'll post this list now since I have to go and continue later.
