And be customizable and all (ik there is something like that but i personaly think you
Could do better)
That is actually a good idea, thanks.
@FallingSpeed :
That would require items with a certain rarity.
One could say, that the crossbow is actually more rare then the ar2 in the HL2 campaign, but on the other hand, you might find dozens of them on other custom maps.
But I'm working on another project that includes randomized weapons, or to be more precise, weapons with random components, like in Borderlands. These weapons would have some level of rarity.
@Jerl Bays :
I've already made something similar to that. Probably...
can you make a menu under "options" in game. that allows you to disable the highlighing of certain objects. (like ammo or health but leave weapons). and maybe some other features?
As with rarity color: Instead of adding predifined weapon rarity colors, simply allow users to define certain weapons to have certain color. like the crossbow can be set to be red always. this would help in some cituations where simply looking at the color would allow you to know what weapon it is. This would also let players decide a weapons rarity, and respective color!
I agree with Jerl Bays, a floaing and spinning like in serious sam would be really cool. But i would not want it always for realism purposes. But istead maybe add a feature that allows only certain weapons to do this. So when you are setting up a map you can have a weapon levitating and spinning all cool like, waiting for you to pick it up.
I would love to be able to customize the effect more, like not just the color. The size, shape, brightness etc. along with some other stuff like below.
Maybe a feature to disable the authors name. not that i dont want them to get credits its just some people have really messy or inapropiate names.
Being able to change the text as it appears above the effect would allow some to shorten longer names like "rocket propelled grenade" to "RPG" or other custom names.
maybe different fonts too, i dont know. just kinda throwing random stuff out there. i dont know if this is even possible.
Anyway thanks for a great addon!
I'm working on a more complex version of the whole thing.
This will include more detailed settings, so you can your own highlight tables with a list of various entities and a more comfortable color setting then just a convar.
About the idea of floating stuff:
That would require to override the existing entity. This isn't impossible.

I probably won't add floating weapons soon, as I'm busy with some stuff as well as my other projects.
Thanks! i look forward to seeing this addon devolope. Great work man.
Ex:
Name of weapon: m9k_doritosblaster420
DMG: 69
ROF (rate of fire per second/minute): 420
Clip size: 360
Recoil (i dont know if their is a measurement of recoil/spread in gmod so you might not do this)
You can change this color with the "ihl_color_sent" console command.
