ATTN Jeff: Enormous Save File Size
Yes it is Roraima.ark and all backup save files that is saves once every hour or so. I can tell you I know it is for sure overspawns, big time. I have turned off the folowing spawns and it has "helped" but still having issues with the spawns being far far too many.

Sabertooth Salmon (disabled)
Coel (disabled)
Pieranna (sp?) (disabled)
Trilobites (did not disable, but severely limited them)

Now others have said that the following were overspawning, but I did not actually see the issue myself, with the above I did see the issues myself...

Penguins (lowered spawn rate)
Toads (spawns not changed)
Sarco (spawns not changed)
Ants (flying and normal)(disabled since they are annoying anyways)
Mosquitoes (disabled due to them also being annoying in general)
Dragonflys (disabled due to also being an annoyance)

Now as far ass I know, these are all of them, but I dont know for sure, as most of my time online is helping others with issues so I dont spend a lot of time out exploring.

I love your map, I want to keep using it, but I cant if the file gets so big it wont boot a server after a shutdown. Others love your map as well, we place it up there with Valhalla and the new Ragnarok, so I hope this can be fixed.

We just had a 3 hour power outage, and the server shut down without a wild dino wipe, the save file is currently 330mb in size while Valhalla is a small 47mb in size.

Both of these servers are on the same machine, running the same mods, same users, and were both created at the exact same time. And the "up" time, for the both of them has been the exact same, around 3 days/72 hours respectively. So all I can guess is overspawn somewhere. I would start with the ones I know for sure, which is all the fish and trilobites. Then I would check Penguins then bugs then Sarco then Toads, in that order. Like I said I have personally witnessed all the fish and trilobites in enormous numbers clustered.

Another thing to check is if there is a setting for "spawning more" when some are killed. It could be possible that the game is spawning more thinking they have been killed when they have not, thus sresulting in an overload of specific spawns. It could be a lot of spawns or just the ones I have seen myself and have been told by my appointed admin/moderators and players themselves.

Sorry for the late reply, been a holiday weekend and all. Feel free to contact me directly for testing, but I will nto be available to test anything until Sunday. But I will be willing to help test as I have a few other server machines i can take offline for private testing of the map. I wish Wildcard would add in some admin functions that would give populations of each npc spawned in real time. Would make it so much easier.

Hope this helps.

PS I would rather have certain things at a low spawn that I can then up the spawn rate as needed rather than over spawn that may cause the server not to boot and thus cause a wipe. A few times I was able to roll back saves, but that was usually an over 24 hour rollback.

Thanks for the detailed writeup. This is a problem I've been looking at for awhile, including after having compeletly redid the spawns. I may need to bring the issue up with a developer to try to get the solution figured out. I'll dramaticly lower the spawn rates if I need to though, thanks.
Incidently I think this is the same issue that causes performance to tank slowly over time. The CPU or server just can't handle that many AI's which should be despawning but are not.

I can concur, it would be what is causing performance issues. And a person who runs their own server, should know how to increase specific spawns even if they do not use it all the time or ever; Its is knowledge what an admin should at least posess. I will be sure to let you know on your next update how things are going. Also feel free to ask me for any info you may need from a server admin standpoint. I dont do modding, but I am well versed in server configuration.

I believe this issue will be fixed with the next update (this week) but let me know if it's not, thanks.

When I see its updated, I will reboot that server, I have shut it down for the time being since I personally am not here to watch it in file size, I dont want players to lose all their progress if the server wont boot because the file is too large. :) I will be happy to keep you informed.

All dino spawns can be changed in the servers game.ini file if you want more or less of something it's just a config issue
