THIS ONLY APPLIES TO OLDER VERSIONS OF DIVINE INTERVENTION.

Alright, this one is simple. If you don't own the "The Republic" DLC, you can't select the Papacy at the start of the game, because of the way we set up being able to pick him at the start in the first place. So, if you don't own "The Republic" here's how you play as His Holiness:


1 - Start the game as someone. Anyone is fine, though probably safer to pick someone out in the middle of nowhere. I personally recommend the dude that runs those islands off the coast of Africa. The Canaries, I think they are? He's pretty much never going to do anything important at the start of the game, so he's a good pick for this step.


2 - Wait an in-game day or two, so that the setup event for The Papacy can tick over. Then, open up the dev console with the tilde key. If you don't know what that is, it's the button just below the Escape key on most keyboards, that looks like this: ~


3 - Enter the following into the console, without the quotation marks, and then hit the Enter key:

"charinfo"


4 - Click on Rome, and mouse over the picture of His Holiness. In the information displayed below his portrait, you should see a field labeled "CharID", with some letters and/or numbers. Type into the console, again without the quotation marks(Don't hit the Enter key just yet!):

"play"

Add a space, and then enter the letters/numbers that make up the Pope's character ID. Then hit the Enter key. The end result should be something like this:

"play abc123"
