Wild Eggs
I picked up a wild Rex egg and i tried incubating it and it doesnt seem to want to. So can you even hatch a wild egg at all?

No, wild egg's have to be special. You have to tame two dinos first, then on both dino's enable wandering. If they are opposite gender and can mate, then they will lay an egg. The egg it lays will be fermented, and you will need to warm the egg up near a fire. You will need 3-5 campfires depending on what egg you want to hatch.

Also when you enable wandering enclose them in a small area or some people use the (default) U key pressing it constantly till they mate and the female lays an egg.

Also watch the eggs like a hawk as it can get cold or hot very easily and slow down the hatch or destroy the egg.

I know all that im actually just started incubating a rex egg. Is there a way speed up the time of incubation so i dont have to wait 5 hrs for it to hatch

No not that I know of, plus you have the baby phase to look forward to which takes even longer. You need to constantly keep them in food at that stage. Juvenile and adolescent can eat from a feeding trough so that is good as you don't have to constantly watch them.

Wait I was wrong about the hatch speeds and even the maturation speeds. You on a single player server? If so look in
C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
In the game.ini add:
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
MatingIntervalMultiplier=1.0
EggHatchSpeedMultiplier=1.0
BabyMatureSpeedMultiplier=1.0

Then you can change any or all the 1.0 to say 5.0, 9.0, 10.0 or what ever you want.
C:\ above is assuming you installed steam to its default location, if you changed the install drive then just change the drive letter but I'm sure you'd know that if you knew how to install to another drive. ;)
