Then again it could just be a case of YMMV. At least what I got to see of it while falling was pretty.
Well, I do apologize for not mentioning that I did in fact have the Deadly Reentry mod active. I'm actually a rare breed of internet user that reads a lot and generally makes logical conclusions based on that.
I'm aware that Realistic Thrusters mod isn't compatible with all ships, I just kind of (perhaps unwisely) assumed that ships that looked well done would have balanced designs as far as layout, center of mass, thrusters, etc due to being made by experienced players.
Now, that last note about not commenting here, I DID miss, and I apologize. I'm a bit used to forums where text that is sectioned off like that at the end of a post is typically a flavor text footer or signature. I didn't mean to cause hard feelings, only provide feedback, though I think the way you started your reply was a bit much...
About atmo drag... weird, may be you was lucky spawning above the top of highest mountain? Because I tested it many times with unlimited speed and drag mods, all the times it damped safely in air with no problems. BUT, there's always a possibility Keens broke something again in updates, I guess I need to re-check that moment.
I had Atmospheric Drag, Midspace's Speed mod, AND Realistic Thrusters. I think it's probably me using Realistic Thrusters here, not Keen.
For comparison, the vanilla Atmospheric Lander can actually fly fairly well with these three mods together, you just have to fly more like a helicopter (minus the fact that you can't auto-hover since the mod confuses inertia dampeners, sometimes an unwanted pain and sometimes a welcome challenge). Long as I don't over tilt and flip, and land carefully, I'm relatively fine.
I personally like it because it adds to the challenge of building a working ship in some ways, but in others I've found it has actually made a few of my creative/ambitious designs actually work when they didn't fly right in vanilla SE (much to my confusion, until I found out about the whole thing with thrust being applied at center of mass, and how rotors work...)
