Bug & Error Reports
Following Fenris's lead in starting up discussion threads for this mod, I figured that a Bug Reports discussion thread was long overdue, because I know I certainly have done that a lot for Balance Evolved. The Ark Dev Kit likes to make life difficult!

This thread is intended to be the place to go for both things that are very obvious bugs, such as creatures not reacting to repellents or erroneous attribute scaling, so as not to clutter up the front comment page.

If a bug is suspected, but you aren't confident that it's necessarily a bug/error, or one that has to do with Balance Evolved specifically, [SUSPECTED] should precede the description.

Mmmyeah, this should probably have been a thing a long time ago, shouldn't it?

I'll make a list of known issues here that I'll update as I go.

Known, but very hard to fix issues:

- Allosaurus pack buff is not being applied properly.
- Fish will not respond to fishing rods.

With regards to the pack buff:

ARK Remastered appears able to implement its own version of the alpha buff for direwolves - how exactly might it be achieving that? My first assumption would be that it's making a duplicate of the alpha particle effect and basically running on its own version of the buff, and likely doing the same thing for the Allosaur alpha boost.

That said, I'm spitballing & speculating in the dark, and it seems overall a lot more complicated to resolve than that, seeing as the the entire Allosaurus pack gets the cleave attack (which I actually like, in vanilla it felt way too much like the rest of the pack was just cargo for the alpha at best, liability at worst) yet simultaneously nobody gets the alpha buff.

Yeah, I've noticed ARK Remastered has managed to do something about it as well, so it's obviously possible. Just having problems with it atm.

The fire arrows are not working with neither the crossbow nor the compound bow :c I am running the mod alone in single player, i don't know if this is only me or is the mod itself. please help me with that, I really like balance evolved

@JBarco Yeah, I'm aware of this. It has to do with me not having touched any of the Schorched Earth content yet and the way the files are set up. I'll fix it when I have time.
Drykolf 26 Nov, 2016 @ 4:59pm
Oh it's okay then, I'll wait, thanks for your response :D

The fishing rod Is not working(I can throw it and so, but it doesn't catch anything, I have been waiting for at least half an hour) and also the giganotosaurus is spawning with more or less 30k of health(the same as a tamed one) so it makes then untameable because I kill them by accident, any help with this?
Destinum  [developer] 13 Dec, 2016 @ 3:34am
Fishing Rod is a known issue. Gigas spawning with the same health as tamed ones is intentional, however them dying from tranqs is not. That'll get fixed when get to changing torpor.

Okay, everyone on our server is having the same whistle issues as people have reported here and elsewhere.

https://www.reddit.com/r/playark/comments/5euohi/whistling_not_working/

A common link seems to be having Annunaki

We don't have Annunaki - we have a pretty minimal mod loadout. I'm suspecting that Balance Evolved may be the conflict though, as it's the only mod that touches dinos like Annunaki at all. We didn't have any whistling issues until the order group whistle patch thing when running Balance Evolved previously.

It's really annoying.

Any ideas?

Wild babies, juveniles, and adolescents lose food at an incredibly slow rate. For example, an adolescent plesiosaur I had knocked out lost food at a rate of ~0.1 per second, and another player in my server reported a similarly slow rate for a baby rex he was trying to tame. I had also tried to tame a baby allo several days earlier, but I gave up due to the slow rate of food consumption.

Well, this certainly has to do with me changing food values, in combination with already having turned down baby food consumption. However, from what I recall I actually increased the food drain of most dinos, so if anything it should have the opposite effect.

Strange. I'll look into it.

When a sarco grabs a mounted animal and lets go for any reason, the animal becomes stuck. This has occurred in the water and on flat ground several times, and the grabbed animal stayed stuck indefinitely. After they were let go, I could neither mount them or access their inventories. They also won't move when I set them to follow me or another animal. I also can't pick them back up again with the sarco.

So, I've tried recreating the sarco bug you were talking about, but not having any luck. What dinos have gotten stuck? Are you doing something special for it to happen?
Destinum  [developer] 22 Feb, 2017 @ 9:56am
Also, update on taming babies: It seems this is actually a bug in the base game. I tried removing all mods and tested it with Kairuku, and sure enough; babies were loosing food at a much slower rate than adults.

I am also having the Sarco bug, I think it is fine as long as you aren't thrown off your dino. But yeah, once they get stuck they are stuck for good (I've tried unclaiming, unfollow<->follow, aggressive, wandering, etc.. to no avail)
