You have to spawn them after ship placement, and can never unlock them. Ships cannot be moved manually.
I havn't moved the ship. I place it in place, then spawn the shields. I also have locked the ship manually before but it is happening.
Cold it be that that the gap between the shipbase and the shild is a little to small? He brings the shields to the right plave via script but after placing them on the right spot the shield tokens lift above the base...
If I spawn shields while the ship is still on the card, the shields fall to the ground (but will still move with the ship when using the movement stick, so it works, even if it doesn't look perfect)
If I manually move the ship off of the card (e.g. to place it in its starting position) and then spawn shields, the shields pop up over the ship base. I suppose this is because the ship is slightly lower, causing a collision between the shield dial and the ship base.

You need full physics for the command dials to work anyways.
Try with full physics? Any difference in behaviors?

If I lock the ship model after placement, and then trigger shields, it works better. But you can still see them crooked at an angle. This is playable, but not elegant.
