This mod is meant to work with the exisiting vanilla scripts to add a feature that I felt should have been in there as standard. So its been added into the standard script but the rest of the Egosoft created rules are still in there and do execute
I have read lots of posts from people who felt this feature was available in previous games via station to station connectors but had been left out of X Rebirth and they missed it. I missed it too and decided to do something about it.
I am just not feelign that this game is not up to what I need out of a space sim. I have the capacity to MOD it all. I just have to start disecting the game code and do it. Unfortunetly, as I grow older, I am having less patience to do anything that would take weeks to do. I am not sure I am willing to spend a whole year on this (especially if another game should come out that would like better, from Egosoft or anyone else). If I knew in advance that there won't be anyhing better for me in the next year, then maybe I would do it.
I try and pick a particular issue that is annoying me and is
A reasonable size
Is unlikely to clash with another mod
Solves a problem that other people also want fixing
Can be hooked into the game with minimal side effects or fights with other mods
Is unlikely to be broken by the next service pack
My first attempt the Station Recycle took about two months at 30+ hours/pw to get to a releasable state
I have pretty abysmal timing of when to release a new mod and keep doing it just after Egosoft releases a service pack rather than just before.
I think that Egosoft will be a while before they release the next game in the series, the content takes a lot of work. I also think that we have probably seen the last service pack for X Rebirth and I will be surprised if 4.1 appears. So in that respect you do have time to develop but the number of people playing obviously peaks when they release a new game and also when a service pack comes out. After that there are just less people playing the game.
They could release another DLC but my money would be on a new game with the same engine as X Rebirth for Christmas 2017. And when they do, they will probably get my money
