Current plans
First of all: Holy ♥♥♥♥ I did not expect this to be this popular.

Anyways, moving onto the main topic of this post. There have been quite a few of you asking for new features and changes to the current ones and I figured I'd make a post detailing what's going on.


Rework
Over the last few days I've been hard at work basically rewriting the addon from scratch. With this rewrite come a few new base features, the most important of which is a completely reworked flight system with support for mouse control and strafing.

This rework is also partially my excuse for not releasing any updates recently. I do have some changes ready to go but never got around to actually uploading them.

Re: Carpet bombing/rockets/weapons
With the rework going on, I've spent some time debating on how to handle these things. As of right now I'm thinking about turning the reload key into a modifier.

To clarify, holding the reload key and pressing primary attack would toggle the lights, while pressing secondary attack while the reload key is down would switch your secondary weapon between rockets, normal bombs and carpet bombs.

Re: Other vehicles
Gunships are still on their way, they're the main reason I started work on the rewrite as it wouldn't be a gunship without being able to strafe.

After that I'll have to see what I'll work on next. Some people suggested I try to make scanners which is an interesting idea.

You should attempt the other Synths, like mortars (which can fly), and crabs/striders (which can't).

Alternatively you could make the rework into a public base, so that people can make their own [insert hl2 thing that you want to control]

dude, i would love to see scanners, so i dont have to pay for HL2RP to be one, and I dont have to use the crappy excuse for a scanner on Parakeet's Pill Pack

A public base is not likely to happen. Each entity is fairly unique once you get down to the details, even the movement code often ends up being quite different most of the time as little tweaks continue to add up.

As for the other synths, ground based ones are really just a pipe dream at this point in time. Mortar synths I'm not sure about.
You should try making the dropship deploy troops like parakeets pill pack.Try binding the key to F because i dont see that key doing anything there.

I'm pretty sure he wants it to stay being player operated

It's not that I want it to stay exclusively player operated, it's just that NPC's are bloody annoying to work with if it's not nextbot stuff.

In regard to the "If it's not nextbot stuff" is there any chance you could perhaps create/rig some SNPC's to be able to use the dropship?

You've got to be joking right? Just use Parakeet's Pill Pack dropship and go into firstperson if you're that eager.

That alone would be a project bigger than this is already.

I know this idea isn't exactly airwatch. But I think adding an improved version of the APC would be fantastic. The current addon only allows 2/3 people. It would be fantastic if we can have up to 7 people. One driver, one gunner and 5 passengers.

Regardless, good work on the addon.

Hey man It would be really awesome if you could add a thing where the airwatch vehicles take damage when they hit anything like buildings or even other air vehicles but it may be kinda hard I guess but nonetheless, I would love it if you could just make it so the vehicles take damage or instantly get destroyed when hitting a surface cause watching a helicopter bouncing off a building and not crashing is kinda funny lookin :)

Probably you should pay some attenrion to camera position as well. Pilot sits to high, so player can see holes in original model. Try to make it a little lower.

Also, chopper pulse gun has conus firing area, not a line. And reloading time as well.
