Alternate capture pod recipe?
As an alternative to removing diamonds from the capture pod recipe, I could make capture pods craft in batches of 5 or so. I just don't feel like a single capture pod is worth a diamond, for their difficulty to gather [assuming no other mods are aiding you]

Sounds fair, five may be too many though. Two or three may be more appropriate.

Your reasoning doesn't seem to match what you said - you think I should do it because the need of diamonds can get crazy? Like, to keep diamonds more valuable?
is there a version that removes the diamond need for the pods?

Yes, this mod currently removes the need for it

I was suggesting adding diamond back into the recipe and making it output more than one pod
I say leave the diamond out then
How about simply allowing an extra recipe, it produces lots of Capture Pods at once, but requires 1 Diamond in addition to the other materials. Two recipes, one for a single Capture Pod, one for a bundle, one without a Diamond, one with a Diamond, sounds fair. I can easily farm Diamonds which appear as drops from Diamond Ore piles in the water areas of the Hylotl Relic Missions, to get 2-6 Diamonds a run, and that doesn't even count the boss chest, which has a small chance of including 1 Diamond as a reward. Wish Diamonds weren't so rare... but at least their not impossible to get. Just time consuming.

I actually hadn't even considered making two recipes. Probably will do that.
